I love no level cap but I wish there were some limits

Its great having no limit on levels but for me the one negative is the fact that eventually everyone could have the same character when all perks ect are maxed out.

If the game hard something where when a perk is maxed out out you can level to an "expert" version l, but only chose 10 in total then at least you would have some uniqueness.

Isnt' there like 270 perks? So it won't happen unless you play for like 300 hours on one save, or more. Plus it is a single player game, why would it matter? Or did you mean all of your player characters?

It may come down to a "feasibility" level cap, like in Skyrim.

That's to say, yes you COULD take a character to level 110. However, the sheer amount of grind to gain even one level once you're in the 70s and 80s makes this unfeasible for most (myself included, my Skyrim max was 81).

I am thankful that the developers listened and didn't force us to take perks at all. We can level all we want but nothing is making you use it. So that being said if you are worried about at some point everyone ending up being the same character, you could always use restraint and not use the perks.

I am at level 53 or so and I haven't touched the bulk of the perks. Having the SPECIAL start out so low and linking perks to special requirement was a good idea.

From what I've read here, there is a level cap. It's just a soft cap with a lot of grinding to get past it. I think that pretty cool. Not sure where the soft cap is. I just hit 30 tonight.

A soft cap wouldn't be so bad. Hopefully it's mad like at level 50 XP required petr level is 10x

Me and my brother play this and it's nice that we have both taken opposite routes through our skillset, and it's nice to compare our characters. Keeps it unique.

Man, imagine the different experiences each character would have between level 1 and 260... for the few legitimate characters that actually make it that far in the hundreds and hundreds of hours they've spent in the game world.

You do realize that to max out your character then you need to get to level 264 or 271 if you want all stats at 11. Good luck with that,

I disagree. I love that there is no level cap.

As far as i'm concerned if your character reaches level 271 it deserves to be godlike

The level cap in Fallout 3 and New Vegas used to force me to play the game with a high intellgence character because I was under pressure to have as many skill points as possible each level up.

Now there is no pressure and I can build the character how I want.

That's correct, but you wouldn't need to get anywhere near level 271 before you're character was effectively, 'just like every other character.'

I wonder just how many shared perks there are with characters by the time they're level 30 or 50? I bet weapon crafting and damage perks would be among the leaders.

I do agree with this, as much as I hate to because I've enjoyed condensing all of my fun into one character. Fact is I'm level 82, and by the time I hit level 50 I had max points in all weapon types. So really there is little desire to move to a new character who will just end up in the same place.
