I love the Brotherhood

You seem to have not gotten the event where you try to recruit a scientist for the Institute and the MM stop you and essentially tell you to go to hell since this isn't a military and they don't have to follow what you say.

Did you also remember Des telling you not to fight the Institute with the MM if the RR option is available since she says that the MM would overthrow you if they found out you were helping synths. What exactly would you do if the MM supported genociding certain groups?

Are you saying you

Spoiler
have to wipe out the Railroad before you can continue with the main quest? You can't just ignore that quest? Taking the MM with the help of the RR to CIT I remained friends with all factions except CIT of course.

Here's how it breaks down for all sides:

Spoiler
Join the Institute: You have to destroy the Brotherhood and Railroad

Join the Railroad: You have to destroy the Institute and Brotherhood

Join the Brotherhood: You have to destroy the Institute and Railroad

Join the Minutemen: You have to destroy the Institute, but don't necessarily have to become an enemy of anyone else.

If Elder Maxson ordered me to follow him to the Gates of Hell, I'd be the first one to kick them open.

Best thing about the Brotherhood is taking their armour and weapons and using it to destroy them. I seriously thought the Brotherhood in New Vegas was bad, they are strangely tolerable in comparison to this lot. Maxson has no idea what he's doing, Danse is too naive and just laps everything Maxson says up like a dog, that Ingram chick looks like a Frankenstein experiment gone wrong, and their one good asset or perk can be obtained afterwards once they are destroyed anyway.

However their entrance is pretty freaking sweet, definitely the most memorable part of their existence in the Commonwealth

Steal from them? The BoS in my game paid them 500 caps for food. It's a very large sum of caps and very fair.

In return they get protection from a group of Paladins and a Vertibird against anyone looking to do them harm.

That was how you resolved the issue. The command was any means necessary. Which means they are ready to take the food by force.

Lets see super mutants cook & eat people, Raiders shoot at anything not them them torture anyone who lives, the Institute kidnaps people & replaces them w/ synths, The Railroad is just a lost cause and the Minutemen all five of them are in some real sorry shape. And lets not forget the ghouls sure the non feral one don't want to munch on your brains NOW but who knows how long that will last. So yeah the Brotherhood of Steel is about the ONLY ones with their act together their methods may be a little harsh but when every day is a battle for life & death harsh becomes your new reality Ad Victorium

Second character now at level 55 and I think I chose the wrong faction to follow.

I don't want to post spoilers so I'll just say I'll do it differently next play through.

You'd have to fight me for the chance to push him in first. :starwars:

But it's not required and as a Sentinel I can set that rule to parties going out to these farms.

Sounds like your character makes up for some of the short comings of the BOS.

Whatever flaws the Brotherhood has, their presence seems to be overall windfall for the sane denizens of the region. Are they flawed? Yes. Am I disappointed that they turned their back on Lyons ideals? Definitely. But I don't want them destroyed, and I don't want them to stop fighting Super Mutants and raiders. Heck, I recall people praising Colonel Autumn and expressing their belief that the wasteland would be better off if his vision of the Enclave had come to pass. Well, the Brotherhood seems to have replaced them in many ways, and for their flaws, they still manage to be a lot more inclusive and more productive than the Enclave ever was.

If only they didn't cut that quest where you and Danse usurp Maxson.

Eh, that would have been too easy. Maxson remaining in charge is one of the reasons to consider not joining the Brotherhood (depending on one's feelings towards said King Arthur).

He could but he has no reason to. The results are the same, except the common wealth is even more supportive of our cause.

Over ruling my choice to make paying for supplies would gain him nothing.

"The Brotherhood's offer of protection from the scum of this earth is all the payment that is required. "

Boom. That's all the reason Maxson would need.

Also what happens when the farmers don't want to sell anyway? What if they need the food for themselves, considering the majority of settlements seem to be entirely based on subsistence farming, throwing caps at them isn't necessarily going to help or persuade them.

Well, nothing except not wasting Brotherhood resources on wastelanders.

I haven't done the quest, but are you paying out of your own pocket or is the Brotherhood footing the bill? If you're paying out of your own pocket that should be a red flag right there.

The Minuteman are even worse, a bunch of whiny complaining brats dressed in farmhand clothes and armed with archaic laser muskets, I laughed when I ordered them to set up a firing line outside the castle, only to have to kill every single mire lurk myself because they couldn't hit anything but their shells. I don't enjoy being errand boy for a bunch of useless whiny spoiled brats, especially since I'm their "general"

The same Diamond City that despises ghouls, mutants, and synths? They'd be the Brotherhood's #1 fans.

Funny how everyone seems to forget that the general populace pretty much has the same views as the BOS

And I'm sure if the Brotherhood wasn't trying to reduce them to feudal serfs, they probably wouldn't care about The Brotherhood wasting a few muties and ghouls.

But as it stands, they aren't too fond of the prospect of being the Brotherhood's [censored]es.

Go BoS! Gotta love Space Marines! They're so open minded.

I took the T60 they gave me, sent Danse to The Castle and put him on guard/patrol duty, and never returned to the Prydwin. I put Danse in a suit of "Minuteman" T45 to underline my point.

I see you like being errand boy for a black man in a cowboy hat who loves spamming you with settlement quests everytime you go to your settlements; "Hey General, I got another quest for you"

Easily the worst and most boring faction ever in Fallout history.
