I love the Brotherhood

Post » Wed Jan 13, 2016 1:56 am

I sprint to the fight anytime I hear a vertibird. I'm up to - not kidding - 10 full sets of BOS T-60 PA looted off of dead BOS knights. Have no idea what to do with them- I wish I could command settlers to wear them.

That whirly-bird is gonna crash and rain fiery loot, guaranteed.

This is correct the Brotherhood doesn't care about the citizens of the Commonwealth particularly any more than they care for anyone else, their focus is for the survival of the species.......and yet the Brotherhood is actively fighting threats to the Citizens of the Commonwealth, Feral Ghouls, Super Mutants, Raiders and Synths unlike anyone else, even the Minutemen for all their caring for the Settlers do nothing to help anybody else, Diamond City protects itself alone, Goodneighbour makes no attempt to help anybody, the Railroad saves its aid for Synths alone not caring about the loss of human life. Actually the only force attempting to reduce the threats to the citizens of the Commonwealth is the Brotherhood.

I loved the BoS MQ myself. I figured someone coming from 200 years ago would find mutants and ghouls and synth as Unnatural anyway. Add to that being an Vet (if playing male) and the BoS is a perfect fit. I loved them.

Playing a female now who is backing the RR and to be honest, it's really hard to swallow, but I'm doing it just to see the ending, then moving on to something else. Thing is doing the RR almost requires you to completely finish the Institutes MQ also so I'm seeing a lot more of the Institute than when I just had my BoS break down the door and shoot the place up. I thought the Institute was ok for a while, but Father is getting a little extreme it seems. The MM I don't mind having around, but not crazy about backing them. Would love to give the 'general' title to someone else.

Gameplay wise not lore wise. Gameplay they only have 1500 health at rank 50.

I have the durable Vertibird mod and they are nearly unkillable. True terror of the skies.

But the Brotherhood themselves is also a possible threat to the citizens of the Commonwealth...

Minutemen do help out when they can though (I've seen them fighting raiders and super mutants from time to time actually) but isn't as effective.

Unless you're a sniper (or just have Mac's glitched perk). Shoot the glass then headshot the driver. Best way of taking out Vertibirds.

Also have the optional Vertibird pilot buff and non leveled Vertibird.

Terror of the skies!!! Luckily they are on my side.

Love watching 3 knights jump out in T-60 and have the Vertibird circle strafe a group of supermutants while the knights make their way into the camp and wipe them out.

Afterword the Vertibird will land and pick them up and fly back to the prydewen.

I had some BOS appear near the end of the Trinity Towers quest, they'd climbed quite high as well.

They are definitely useful to have around as often I'll travel somewhere to attack it, and some BOS are already there if not kicking ass but at least prodding buttock.

I watched them have a big battle with a bunch of supers over at the bus station. Quite the show, that is until I tried to help and accidently shot one of them.

I've actually been seeing their Vertibirds land quite frequently. Yes I've seen quite a few crash and burn too, but plenty of them manage to drop of their teams and exit the area.

I've actually got far enough along in the "Find Shaun" MQ that I'm going to put everything on the back burner and focus on BoS quests. The "sundry" quests for Rhys seem to be ramping up in difficulty and the last one was a real white knuckle, surprised me! Not that I particularly "like" them, but now seeing what the Institute is all about they definitely seem like the lesser evil and seemingly more "potent" than the Minutemen.

A possible threat, but they are the only force actively fighting the threats to the citizens of the Commonwealth......to be fair the Minutemen are rebuilding, but apparently even at their peak they were always based around local defence rather than ever taking the offensive and you cannot defend a region by standing purely of the defensive. That's the problem for the Minutemen, great as a local militia (once they have artillery and can call on 20+ Settlements) but you need a regular military force taking the fight to the enemy controlled areas and the Minutemen have never had the capability.

I liked the brotherhood in some past games. They came across as too xenophobic to join this time around.

Spoiler
I also don't like fighting them due to past games. If you work the quests right you can finish the game with minuteman ending that keeps you in good standing with all factions (expect for the institute of course). This keeps all the other factions around. I like to have the variety of side missions available. What is funny with this ending is most of the brotherhood characters are all pissy that the minutemen took out the institute. "Waaaa, it should have been us!"

The Minutemen are only good if you enjoy being errand boy for some guy that keeps calling you "general" that also has the personality of a graham cracker. Why am I doing all the work if I'm the general? Also you get a flare gun, which is the worst faction support weapon in the game, I've yet to get it to work once and even if it did it'd probably be a few minutemen guys with pipe pistols and no armor showing up to get killed instantly

They change so much, they don't focus on helping people only eliminating their enemies without compassion, unlike Sarah Lyon, Maxon is a dictator.

Brotherhood should change to sisterhood.

The Brotherhood have a great design to them, and although I wouldn't support them myself they fit my character pretty well. With his long assault rifle, heavy X-01 power armour, and hatred towards all of the filth that now plague the world he used to live in, the Brotherhood make the perfect fit for gunning down the filth with well placed 5.56 shots. The Brotherhood is dark, but their plans are sensible and achievable, something that many of the darker factions in previous games struggle with. They are the greatest fighting force that the Falloutverse has to offer in the 2280's, beating out the great nation states of the western wastelands and even the Enclave when they were once at their height. Makes me want a Fallout strategy game even more, since alongside the Legion and NCR I would also love to go campaigning with the Brotherhood.

They have changed since F3, now they have direction, focus, numbers and the ability to project force into other regions.......as for Maxson being a dictator, he's an Elder which is the usual pattern for the Brotherhood, they have never claimed to be a democratic organisation.

Not when Lyons as the elder,

they become war hungry faction, not much different than Super Mutants against everything else.

If you take CIT with the Minutemen and are on good standing with BOS

Spoiler
Danse's speech the next time you see him really tells you alot about the BOS and its motives. They truely are the good guys in this game. They only arrived in the Commonwealth to investigate the Courser's tele signals they were receiving and assumed whatever it was was a threat to the people of the commonwealth. Yes they want all tech and data they can collect but how is that any different than us the SS we do the same thing.

haha totally Agree. I could never play NV without playing with the BOS, why would anyone want to destroy them? High tech gear, ruthless, and bringing the authority the wasteland needs. If you like the BOS you need to play Fallout Tactics, thats what really made me like the BOS. They had R Lee Ermey play one of the Bos generals, I love his quotes "Let me make myself clear: the taking of prisoners is NOT authorized in this mission. You are to kill every last one of them, DO YOU HEAR ME!? I WANT THEIR BONES BLEACHING IN THE WASTELAND SUN!!!" dismissed. Later in another mission briefing "We had captured raiders drag the nuke into position. We did not have enough Rad-X and Radaway to spare for them. They will die a horrible, puking death from radiation poisoning, but take heart in the fact that it will further the cause of the Brotherhood" Its something pretty close to that, been a few years since I last played.

But yeah, best faction other then the Enclave. No liberals in either one.

Lyons BOS also shot Ferals, Super Mutants and Raiders on sight, they were just not very good at it, split into two factions (Lyons and Outcasts) and despite recruiting wastelanders were still in obvious decline, but for Liberty Prime and the Lone Wanderer they would have been an easy kill for the Enclave. Aside from giving out free water there is no a great difference between Lyons' and Maxson's vision for protecting the locals, beyond the fact that Maxson seems to know what he is doing, apart from the problem training Vertibird pilots.

The Brotherhood was never a democratic organisation in any of its divisions (West Coast, MidWestern or East Coast), Lyons was appointed Elder and sent east, Maxson is the guy who reunited the East Coast BOS, rebuilt their strength and turned them into the powerhouse of the East Coast.......most of the facist claims about Maxson's version of the BOS don't make a lot sense, since all of the BOS factions act the same way, even in Lyons time, the Brotherhood settled its problems through the barrel of a gun (or Energy weapon).

Brotherhood by Maxon isn't willing to share their resources to help people, they use all the resources for war and instead demand tribute from the people they claim to be helped.

They kill everything else other than themselves, pretty much Super Mutants, except Super Mutants more noble they don't kill their kin.
