I love the Brotherhood

Post » Wed Jan 13, 2016 10:26 am

The only resources Lyons' BOS ever gave away was free water (after the Lone Wanderer won the war for them), the only other way they 'helped' was killing Super Mutants.....as far as we know that free water is still available in the Capitol Wasteland.

Maxson's BOS kills exactly the same things that every other BOS faction kills......Super Mutants, Raiders, Ferals (since Synths didn't exist as an enemy until F4). The player can kill settlers to take their land for BOS, the player can also kill the Brotherhood settlers and take their land, this in no way proves that the Brotherhood is facist in its aims or practices. Could you point out instances where Maxson's Brotherhood kills ordinary ghouls, wastelanders, settlers etc.

Absolute nonsense. If you see the SM as more noble than the Brotherhood, you're clearly against humanity.

If you want a good idea of who the Brotherhood is based on look no further than the Knights Templar, Hospitalier, Teutonic etc, they are are religious military order, they are in no way mean't to be Nazi's (that would be the genocidal Enclave), who are capable of great acts of barbarity in the service of the stated goal.

I hate uglies (Super Mutants, Ghoul, Radroach, etc)

I won't tolerate brotherhood killing lovely synth like Curie though.

If brotherhood still under Sarah Lyon, I will think about joining, but not under Maxon (He still too young, like a brat)

If you read all the terminal in Prydwen, the brotherhood under Maxon think the brotherhood under Lyon too soft, because they're focus in helping people.

They think it make the brotherhood fall.

The brotherhood under Maxon had become just another Savages,

Also nonsense since everybody in the game shoots Ferals, Raiders, Super Mutants and Institute Snyths on sight.......I must have missed the Brotherhood oppressing everybody, even the take over of the Settlements can be achieved more through charm than anything. Who would you rather support as a farmer in the wastelands, the high tech Power Armored guys actually seeking out the frightening creatures that prey on you or would you rather have the poorly equipped Minutemen who spend most of their time hanging around your farm.

I don't like the Brotherhood, but that is why I like the Brotherhood... If that makes any sense.

They are a good faction to hate, but still join as a necessary evil, because the Minutemen have no characters capable of saving the Commonwealth. I hate them in a good storytelling sort of way.

The Minutemen. I don't trust organizations like the BoS.

I would have joined the Minutemen, but they have no characters... And I don't like going through a game feeling lonely because I am the only member of a faction that talks. If I wanted to take on the entire Wasteland by myself, I would mod in a Silver Shroud faction where I single handed take down the Institute and everyone praises the greatness of the Commonwealths best super hero.

I don't trust the Brotherhood of Steel either, it felt to me more like a Mass Effect 2 kind of story, where I am using their power to get to the goals I am trying to achieve. You don't have to trust them to use their power to your advantage.

Lyons was to soft, his mishandling of the East Coast BOS, resulted in it becoming his own personal cult (with a royal bodyguard unit, Lyons' Pride), a civil war, the decline of the Brotherhood numbers and morale.....frankly he was achieving little and wasting Brotherhood numbers and resources. He's saved by the Lone Wanderer and even then apparently the Brotherhood continued to decline after his death.

The Brotherhood under Maxson has become a powerhouse, ruling the Capitol Wasteland and able to project large numbers of troops into Boston to defeat the threat that the Institue poses.

As I wrote, point out when and where they have killed peaceful ghouls, settlers or other wastelanders.....up to now all they have oppressed is the same foes that everybody else also kills on sight.

Well good luck with that when the Super Mutants or Raiders organise a large raid, I'm sure the lightly armed (with the laughable crank laser muskets) poorly equipped Minutemen will protect you......MMMMWWWWWAAAAAHHHHHHAAAAAAAAA...cough, cough.

I killed every person on the Airship for saying similar things to me once.

Funny how a mother looking for her lost child in the Commonwealth suddenly had flashbacks belonging to a young man in Washington DC who sacrificed his life for Sarah Lyons at Project Purity...

But like I said before, I agree with you outside of character, but in character I hate them for it.

I like them because they are a military faction, and I heard Paladin Danse say the Brotherhood of Steel was created from the remnants of the US Military. Thought that was cool.

*shrug*

Elder Lyons was lets face it not up to the job, the F3 Brotherhood could barely organise a [censored] at a brewery and was frankly totally failing to protect the Capitol Wasteland when the Lone Wanderer arrives.....I'd say his was the better way, but for all his ideals he was failing to achieve anything beyond wasting the lives of his followers. Maxson is certainly ready to step all the way to the dark side to achieve his aims, but then he watched the mess Lyons made and then cleaned it up.

Spoiler
I still don't buy it as they have you wipe out the railroad if you do their line. While the railroad is a bit loony they sure don't need to be taken out. BOS are too xenophobic this time around. They also have a side mission to steal from the local farmers, which I helped setup... yeah. I see their motives as blinded by self righteous zeal. I get they are trying to prevent another doomdays event but they are preventing others from thriving in the process.

Well deserters from the U.S. Military. So technically they weren't.

The actual remnants would be the Enclave armed forces.

OT: I like them because they make good target practice for my Institute weapons. I also like to see how many dog tags I can rip from fallen Brotherhood bodies. Gotta collect em' all. :twirl:

Spoiler
Oh yeah. Found out that there was someone with advanced tech out there, so rather than send an emissary or an investigating party, launched a full out invasion of the Commonwealth, with the intent of wiping out whoever it was who had cooler toys than they did.

Totally the good guys.

Personally though, I have a great distaste for the Brotherhood of Steel, particularly the East Coast's chapters. They're massive hypocrites. They go on and on about safeguarding the world from the things that brought about the Great War, yet they love to use things like Liberty Prime, a nuke tossing robot. Nukes. The weapons that destroyed the Old World, and by all logic should be the last thing the Brotherhood would want to use. But no.

Also, their cult of worship surrounding Maxson is tiresome.

Actually they've always been xenophobic. However, in FO 3 Bethesda decided to create a splinter faction aka Lyons Brotherhood. That's why the Outcast refused to follow Elder Lyons.

Honestly though, they're pretty tame compared to the Brotherhood of Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel.

Actually I rather like the moral ambiguity in factions like the Brotherhood. I think it makes the game far more interesting than if there were clear cut good-guys and bad-guys.

Yeah, xenophobia seemed to raise its head a bit less in some previous titles. But yeah tactics was brutal.

The kindness is not the weakness, actually it is the strongest of Lyon side,

I'm sure Brotherhood under Lyon get much approval from people, while Brotherhood under Maxon is putting people in Tyranny in which Maxon only care about his own army power, and solve everything with iron fist.

He will crush any opposition in Capital Wasteland for his dictatorship, but in Commonwealth he might get his match eventually.

Too bad, Sarah Lyon should changed brotherhood name to sisterhood while she still can.

Maxon is just power lunatic, and if he see any trace of threat he try to dispose of it and in the same time he can showoff to people and try to get tribute from people as side dish.

Yeah, the principle of funding a paramilitary group with a history of its members becoming Raiders.

And that is why I always have to play an opposing faction to yours!! You are so mean and someone has to keep you in check!!! LOL :P

I really like Paladin Danse though. He has honor and integrity! (and yes I know what he is, so you might hate him even more, Andronicus LOL)

Also, Roger Maxson had a good reason to desert at that time. Plus, nobody cared about his desertion, since 2 days later the bombs dropped.

Being xenophobic in a world where super mutants and feral ghouls exists seems like a good thing to me. Ad Victoriam etc etc.
