I love the Brotherhood

Post » Wed Jan 13, 2016 3:00 am

They satisfy my need for a militant authoritarian fascist state, I love how they're only one step away from being a neo nazi styled faction. I love the dark underbelly of them in this game, and how exclusionary they are. I love how they tout their superiority complex everywhere, I love a clean, ghoul free ship imposing rule and military superiority upon all the dissidents and weaklings below who dare oppose the might of the Brotherhood. Ad Victoriam!

The only faction I support. I want to try a second playthrough with a different one but I can't see myself or any sane character I create supporting the other crazy factions with their absurd motivations. They should have made the game more balanced in this aspect, the way it is, the Brotherhood is the only faction worth in this game. And Danse's quest is one of the best moment in the game for me, when I took my decision I finally became a real soldier.

The Institute has been disapointing to say the least, the Minutemen are a bunch of fools with being led by the ultimate fool: Preston Garvey, the man with the personality of a graham cracker, and the Railroad is boring and only useful if you're using a stealth character build.

The Brotherhood is the only faction that feels worth fighting for

I like them because they're the only group that doesn't think synths are people or poison local farms.

Plus, Fallout is a setting that would naturally breed hardball extremist factions with agendas. I don't like the Railroad because they honestly strike me as somewhat unrealistic. Surviving the Commonwealth is hard enough. Nobody who isn't already highly developed and organized (like the BoS) is going to take the time and effort to make a career out of helping others at the risk of death. Not on the Railroad's scale, anyway.

Spoiler
Persuading Maxson to keep Danse alive is very funny, sellout lol!

If I do their radiant 'take over this settlement' quests do I have to look after it?

I'm playing a lone wanderer with no settlements to look after bar my own home base.

I presume there is some sarcasm in the OP, I hope so. I think the BoS is a faction styled very well, very probably such factions would exist in a world like Fallout. I don't like them because I don't like authoritarian elitists, but I also don't like the stupid Railroad terroristic idealists or the Synth producing Institute. So terrible that I would prefer the Minutemen who are so boring and tedious. Nevertheless, I plan to destroy all the other factions while trusting on the utter incompetence of the Minutemen to make the world more civilized. To keep the wasteland a dangerous and interesting place.

You should side with the Institute, I'm sure you could develope an even better type of mankind, blonder and with even bluer eyes. I prefer black hair and darker skin, so unfortunately I have to kill everybody in the game who is theoretically able to flood the world with blondes. I also hate beards so this Maxton guy is presumably the first one to die.

There's barely any blondes in Fallout 4 so shouldn't be too difficult of a task for you.

No, I don't intent to kill blondes but the guys who could make more blondes. And Synths with beards. I equal them losely with the BoS, Institute and the Railroad (don't know why but I don't like underground terrorists) which all must be destroyed. For the sake of humanity.

Railroad are a bunch of tree hugging hippies stuck in a 1950's spy thriller, I didn't like them in F3 when I heard about them and I like them even less now I know them.

Ad Victoriam Brother! I couldn't agree more, it's nice to see the Brotherhood return to their roots. Now excuse me, I have filthy mutants and wasteland scavers to trample underfoot with my glorious BOS T-60E Power Armor.

The Minutemen is the faction that I want to love, but really can't, and the Brotherhood is the faction that I want to hate, but really love.

I keep wondering how many freakin Vertibirds the Brotherhood has. I've seen at least a couple dozen of them get totally wrecked. They must have hundreds of them on standby, with thousands of people constantly producing new ones.

The only goofy thing about the brotherhood in the Fallout games is that it should theoretically be easier to join a raider gang than them... Yet we have always been able to somehow be a part of the most exclusive faction in the wasteland.

I've found this odd as well. Clear out a handful of ferals and help Paladin Danse with a quest, and all of a sudden I'm not only being inducted into the Brotherhood, but immediately promoted to Knight and given a suit of power armor. That seems a little...questionable.

LOL yea, I guess we make a really great impression on Danse... :D

Same here, it's nuts to think that they have so many vertibirds on stand by!

I don't think I've ever seen a vertibird that hasn't crashed.

Depends on how you play. I don't trust the Brotherhood and don't support their motives. The Brotherhood doesn't care about the citizens of the Commonwealth at all and only want to complete their own goals. Hell, I can see them destroy Diamond City, if they believe that they have to.

For me, I side with the Minutemen. They have the best idea of how to go about this and actually care about people.

The other day I saw one with one engine on fire and the pilot actually made an emergency landing. Finally a pilot with the sense to land the damn thing before it exploded

The pilot was subsequently executed by the BoS for letting an extremely valuable and advanced piece of technology fall into enemy hands. Their cowardice in the face of adversity has hurt the BoS as a whole and tarnished their ideals. Name stricken from all records.

It is a very well done faction, and it is fun to play along with them. Not sure how Danse would feel about you saying you "loved" him and his faction. He just doesn't seem like the touchy-feely "I love you!" type.

Posts and responses to those posts about real life politics and Nazi discussion has been removed. We do not allow real life political discussion so...keep it about the game folks.

Nope. They valiantly disembarked and fought a furious battle against the gunner forces. The lone surviving knight I assume called in for an engineering team to reclaim the crashed vertibird after I left. The pilot should receive a posthumous award for valor for saving the life of the knight and protecting Brotherhood assets.
