Love the Community

Post » Fri Jul 23, 2010 11:39 pm

Just showin' some appreciation for the community here on the forums. I in general like visiting game forums like xbox and gamefaqs because I like to listen to what peoples opinions and thoughts are on certain games. What they liked, how they feel the game could've been made better, and just plan conversation about their in-game experiences. Yes, I know, Brink isn't out yet, but you guys pose interesting questions and provide good conversation. What I'm saying here, is that I appreciate the maturity and insight the members of the board bring to the forum, and hopefully it'll be a good indicator of what the average Brink player will be like: verbal and easy going.

Cheers,
Ending Shadows

Your welcome, I strive for it.

But In all honesty, Brink has one of the better communities.

I bow down and praise The Fonz every night, praising H0RSE sounds pretty weird though, but sure.

I'll be realistic here:

The majorrity of the community on this forum is nice (obviously; I wouldn't stay here if it wasn't). But the actual community (the crowd) will probably not be close to that.

Like Team Fortress 2?

Except it's like this:

Forum = Hates everything and everyone in the game

Game = They like it, and don't complain

I don't know the TF2 community, but your description of it makes me say: no.

To me, it's rather like: There are people here, which visit the forums regularly, know a lot about the game, discuss in a friendly and ... uhm ... "aware" way. And also they seem like nice people overall. And then there are people who just join the forum for a day or two and ask one stupid question before they leave again. Or they actually come to stay and visit the forums more regularly, but keep on posting mostly rubbish.

And the second group will outnumber the former sooner or later and increases exponential the closer release-date comes.

To me, it's just very similar to any beta-community of almost any game. So to me, it''d be very similar to the APB beta community. But it would most likely become similar to the current APB community after release. Meh.

I think a reason peple on these forums are mostly smart and calm is because we're the kind the to be attracted by the developer diaries, which go into detail and giving interesting inights into the games' development, if the advertising was more
"YOU'LL KICK ASS IN THIS GAME EPIC STYLE!
LOOK ANOTHER EXPLOSION!
THIS GAME AINT GONNA PREORDER ITSELF!"
it'd attract easily angered guys who most of the time can't be bothered with the waist-deep thought to ask interesting questions and debate reasonably, and would prefer to paddle in skimming insults off the top of their head.
