I LOVE THIS GAME! - Here's Why.

It could be because I play Fallout 4 with an Astro A50 Dolby Digital 7.1 Surround Sound Headset, but here's what happened. I was doing some quests and adventuring in the city ruins of Boston and this super mutant pops out of no where, scares the sh** out of me, which made me jump about about 360 feet in the air, and is all like "Super Mutants are superior Blue Man", and hits me a few times before I could react. Then I popped one in his torso and since I was using a heavily modded Institute Pistol turned into a Rifle he disintegrated and he was rather easy to defeat. Man they sure know how to make you jump sometimes, just like a Deathclaw does to me every time I'm not ready to fight one.

Heh, I got startled by a Deathclaw - a glowing alpha deathclaw I think - in the ruins of Boston, after a crazy firefight with some Raiders. I was all, whew, glad that's over, then a ground shake and I am thinking, eh, probably another Vertibird crashing down... NOPE! Came out of an alley behind me and startled the crap out of me.

I didn't think much of the game to begin with. Honestly.

The whole idea of a post nuclear waste land bores me tremendously after reading every single science fiction available in my youth.

I played Unreal Tournament (Assault) for 11 years in different clans. So, guns, grenades and such is not that exiting anymore. And having played Skyrim, Dragon Age Inquisition and Witcher 3 for thousands of hours made it REALLY hard to switch to a new game in that genre.

Well, I noticed the popularity around the net. I saw how the mod community on Nexus grew. Ok... let's have a peek then. Why not?

My first impression was the silence. The waste land. And the silence. The silence was deafening.

It's was so quiet that I got this feeling of butterflies in my stomach. An exitement growing like when you blow the glowing coals from last night and watch the color turn red again.

There was something wrong here? Better check it out.

I still didn't think much of the game yet. Sneaking around killing monsters? Doing hero of the day quests, buildfing houses and nurse mutfruits and melons?

Well, ok. But still not just what I expected. Not quite.

What turned my opinion in the positive direction was actually meeting Piper. When I met her and dragged her along the game started to feel nice.

Piper is really a nice piece of work. A personality with nice views and feelings. The game started to be cozy and funny.

:shocking: "BLUE! We're not alone here!" :shocking:

PS. I hate the feral ghouls. They are so annoying.

I'm on my 3rd character and with every character, the first few steps out of Sanctuary and just into Concord are pretty scary. Sure, you have a feel of how the weapon acts and how to aim etc., but the wasteland is still a scary place!

Talking about jumping out of your skin... I was sneaking around Cambridge and found this diner... my eyes are focused on the cash register, anticipating pre-war money loot! I heard some beep, but didn't see anything, when BOOM, my whole world explodes and my character falls to the ground, her arms were just bloody stumps... Thank goodness I save often. I swear I didn't see a mine on the ground... what killed me? There were only 3 lunch boxes on the table... OH, I see, one is a bottlecap mine... :sadvaultboy:

So, I guess all of my characters are baptist by fire during their early levels. The first one died do to a Molotov Cocktail, the 2nd was cornered by raiders and couldn't escape a Frag Grenade, and now the 3rd got blown up sky high by a bottlecap mine. LOL (I pretended that it was just a flesh wound lol).

I had my own awesome experience with a Legendary Glowing Deathclaw but iw was in the Glowing Sea. I was about to square off with it when 2 Radscorpions pop out of the ground and fight the Deathclaw instead of me for some reason. I waited until they were all weakened then finished them off with a Bleeding Shotgun.

I haven't really gotten past level 20, but there were a few occasions where I trigger a trap and a something shoots a shotgun or a gun at me and I was like "SH** WTF WAS THAT?" Then Feral Ghouls come out of the woodwork, and I have to either run or fight.

Yep just trying to get started on Railroad questline at level 5 was hard as heck. Luckily even though I had no deeds to my name Deacon vouches for me, I got in, and now I am an agent with the Railroad with a mean institute rifle made of plastic lol. I really wonder sometimes if the Institute weapons are 3D printed or something, as they are all made of plastic when you break them down.
