I love this game! I want my money back...

Post » Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:41 pm

There are so many things that this game has gotten right, it is a shame that the things they did wrong are overshadowing it for me. Sorry but this game did not ship with enough content to be worth $60 and the idea of buying another copy so my wife and I can play together(like we did all the way through Borderlands(twice)), is simply absurd. We have rented a second copy for the week and I can tell you it will probably be going back on Saturday. The game is just not deep enough, no matter fun the experience is. The friendly AI issues coupled with the idiotic party system(seriously, just copy Halo matchmaking and call it a day) has relegated this title to "meh" status for me.

So much potential, so much disappointment...

It was only $50 for PC. That means I payed 17% less than you did. Now I feel like I got a better deal.

Price-drop-waiters will pay $30 or $40 for it. we all lost the game.

I paid $108 for it on release (which is cheap here), and am happy to say that it's still more than that for most people who go into a store to buy a copy today.

And the people who buy it a few months late and get it cheaper... Didn't have it on day one, didn't get to contribute to the release, don't get the pre-order DLC (at least not yet), and haven't been able to learn the joys of playing as early as I have.

And OP... I'm glad you appreciate what the game has done right, and I'm sorry the flaws in it have hit you as hard as they have. For myself, personally, the good FAR outweighs the bad, and the game is one of my favourites ever. It's a personal thing though, and I can see where the flaws are, and that for many people, those flaws will be enough to hold it back in their eyes.

I too am pissed that this game got released in the state it's in, What really sets me off though, is that I paid good money for a very broken game. It's simply not acceptable and gamers deserve better. I think the thing that sets me off though is that games don't have a return policy and I can only imagine the smug bastards at Bethesda laughing.

If I would've paid $20 I would be happy, but I paid $38 and I just don't think it's worth that much money. Some people are still having fun and that's great, but there are more people who can't even play the game in its current state.

Funny, I bought a 2nd copy for my wife too and that's getting taken back tomorrow. Thank god I didn't open it.

I'm enjoying the game but it didn't come close to living up to what Splash Damage said it would be.

Thats nice, except its may. People who got bored or were disappointed in the game the day after release won't likely be concerned about the tantalizing promise of a little new content. Maybe fans ought to wait and see how that free dlc actually works out before declaring victory.

If you were bored on day 2, then obviously you do not enjoy the core gameplay, and therefore no amount of extra content will help you.

If you truly enjoy the game, you'd still be having fun like I am. Shadowrun was the same way. People complained, and eventually left, and the game was better because of it.

I would say this is my best of best picks for FPS games ever but then I would be lying. One thing that Splash Damage should have taken in consideration is that it is 2011. I do not pick up a game to play campagin and then beat it then move on to the next game. I personaly would have to say that about Half of the gamer communitiy is the same way. We play video games for the Online multiplayer aspect of the game, and I must say this game doesnt deliver that.

The sad part is after playing for 1 hour I disliked it but kept playing it just bc I WANT TO LIKE IT. 40$ for the game I could care less. I just want to play a game that is fun and doesnt end after beating it. OH wait the campain is like 3 hours to complete for both sides total. Oh and why would you want to play ONLINE to do the same thing as campain. Same [censored] it dumb. Unless I am missing somthing here.

There is a reason why COD games are still making bank. That is bc they know how poeple are. Most gamers want to DO WHAT THEY WANT. IE Run and Gun RUN AND GUN. This game seems to lack that aspect and most will fall off grid with COD MW3 comes out. OHW WAIT I will most likly be that player. I love the team aspect but You wont see that hardly in any game you play no matter. So IF you cant beat them join them Run and gun pray that you win. I been playing online with NO bots and it seems its a stail mate bc each side just kill kill kill and that is boring.

This game is lame. I think my 4 year olf nefuw can make a beettter game.

Food for thought: When Team Fortress 2 was first released to the players it had 4-5 maps, and the matches lasted a lot shorter so it was a lot more repetitive. People still play the hell out of Team Fortress 2 regardless, so if a game that it's only novelty was a cartoony look can run succesfully (granted, I love it myself), then Brink offering such great innovations like the SMART system (I know it has issues but give it at least a month guys) and seven campaign maps (9 if you count each seperate side following a different path with the "what-if" campaign missions) it doesn't look so bad altogether.

I guess people just got much higher standards in the 4 years after Team Fortress 2 or something. Gaming never got worse (in most cases), gamers are just getting spoiled.

I think its more an issue that the COD crowd can't get it through their heads that Brink is not COD.

But CoD is as cookie-cutter low as one's standards can go. It's Counter-Strike with a forced Deus Ex RPG-lite system, it's anything but original, good, or lengevit in gameplay. I bought the original Modern Warfare, and rented all of them from then on and found that Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 are just lazy carbon copies with improved graphics.

What's with everyone saying it's Bethesda's fault? They only published it, they didn't develop it. Splash Damage is who you should probably be referring to. It's their fault the game's like this, but they should be bringing out another patch sometime in the (hopefully short) future. I'm also sure they'll have some DLC for it, you know, to add some extra maps and (I sure hope) clothing customizations, levels and perks.

I don't have a problem with it at all. I think I got my money's worth. I bought Brink for the multiplayer experience and it does not disappoint. If you aren't playing with real people online or you want something to play with the wifey split screen then yeah this is going to be a disappointment, but if you want fast paced objective competitive combat then this game nailed it. Like all games of it's type it will just get better as more maps are introduced. This game answers my prayers for a competitive shooter without all the camping and lameness that comes with games like CoD and Halo. I just don't get all the hate people dump on this game. Most of it seems to be that you thought Brink was going to be something that it clearly was not designed to be. For people like me who went into it with eyes wide open, knowing how it would be, I think we got our money's worth.

Add a match setting so that you can just play with other people who like not having the hud on the screen and your enemies and team mates lit up like fireworks.

Except that I can play it on my 360 with practically zero problems and I got it right away for about forty euro (equivalent of, what, 35 US dollars?)

Yay for Amazon.UK?

Alright, I had high expectations for this game being it was hyped all to hell, keep this in mind I do not like cod im more for l4d-l4d2-tf2 all those types of games, so what i was expecting was a system where people would be able to work together... the devs said it looks different which is nice but it plays like dog [censored].

I love this game, and I think that everyone who doesn't just has to quit playing and play that stupid CoD kill kill kill crap, Brink will be better without 'em. Btw, I've been playing online a lot and I didn't have problems with it at all.
