Took me forever, but I finally managed to escape the Sierra Madre Vault with all 37 gold bars. Was a pain in my @$$... but there is a way. I am 300000 richer, but that is just pocket change compared to how much money I got with the Vikki and Vance glitch before the patch. I merely got the gold bars for decor around my house in the Big MT.

OMG you use glitch. i hope you feel bad for yourself, especially in new vegas where GETTING MONEY IS THE EASIEST [censored] THING THEN IN MOST OTHER GAMES except GTA IV where u rob that bank, instant life time profit... ruined the game for me.

Have fun living in hell regretting that u cheated the laws of game physics by glitching money... PEACE

just kidding. yeah I kinda regret it now because I think it is causing my game to get all laggy and stuff. And I found that if you put money into a container now, it doesn't put in what you requested to put in, but rather the double of it. So yeah. B1TCH1NG.

Well FNV cheated by making a 10 oz. gold bar 35 lbs and then gets mad at you when you return the pleasure. I maded sure to have at least 20 pounds to carry all of them but nooooo they have to screw with physics. Sorry to everyone from the Midwestern fan-fic I got slammed and have been offline for a few months so I kinda had to drop out.

To the OP: If you aren't opening up the console on a PC, then you aren't cheating. Don't worry about it. Some people will simply rage on you for getting all thirty-seven, because they either were too lazy to figure out how to haul them out, or they think it conflicts with the whole "let go" portion of the story. It doesn't conflict with the story. It actually takes a different twist, because my courier simply refused to "let go".

Congrats. It's a lot of caps, and combined with Mr. House's snowglobe money, you're going to be set in many ways for the rest of your New Vegas playthrough.

EDIT: I have yet to find out how to exploit the V & V. I don't really need it, but I might find it interesting.

He was mad about the glitching to get the money at the V & V casino. The gold bars is well known and was put there on purpose. At least I think it was. Not too hard to get the money out if you saved a stealth boy.

Well it was patched. So I don't think you'd be able to do it if you have the DLCs. Exploits and console commands are totally different. But I still consider them cheating.

but seriously though, access to the console is one of MY incentives for buying PC versions. (mostly because of construction sets, bethesda really has the best sandbox in town)

since i'm always getting stuck in rocks when i'm eating war fog it's nice to toggle collision... i'll admit i've added some emergency antivenom to save a nice chunk war fog too! but only just recently have i had to use the resurrect command, even though i saved ringo from the powder gangers and everyone idolized me, they must of forgot who i was once i decided to equip a hockey mask because they all started attacking me, nearly had to kill everyone goodsprings during that event... but they're better now.

The glitch to get the gold bars? Highly doubt it. Dead Money's whole point was supposed to be "letting go." In other words, you are supposed to be moderate and only take as many as you can carry. If you get greedy and "don't let go" of all that money, then you die.

I'm not exactly sure how everyone else "glitches" the gold bars out. I simply put on the sneaking suit, pick up all the bars, and simple sneak out and around towards the other entrance next to Elijah's. I get out every time without some form of a glitch. If that is what everyone uses that I do not considerate it a glitch because I am simply sneaking past Elijah....

That's what I think. But the one glitch where you can switch places with Elijah through the forcefield is a glitch.

yes i do realise that its his game, but in some games, glitching and using cheats causes more glitches, that can ruin the game. like anyone play GTA san andreas, my friends cheated, then one day, they were stuck in the part where u got this crazy cowboy girl, so they had to cheat to go to the other cities...[censored] yeah bro

From what I've heard it sound like the most fun way of getting the gold bars out is using the GRX implant (level 2, all that days usage) then just make mad dashes back and forth from vault to entrance. If I ever play Dead Money when I have the GRX Implant I'm definitely giving it a go.

Even if you had a stealth boy, It would automatically turn on the force field if you got too close to the door. You have to drop the bars near the force field and pick it back up when you get to the other side. If you played Fallout 3, you pick up the bars the same way you search the general dude that is in the same chamber your father dies in.

There is another way where you walk all the way around.

You can also walk forwards while sneaking past the generator and then turn left, turn left after facing the door Elijah comes out, and sneak that ways until you get towards the other shield door. If you time it right you will get through with about 1-2 seconds before the shield turns on.

That simply isn't true.. It might be the purpose the writers intended (or not) but the irony is that it is very easy to get out of the vault with all bars without glitching.
In fact this method (although being overencumbered) is also needed to get one of the achievements.. It's all about sneaking out.

Then apparently I've never heard of the "just sneak out method." How exactly does it work? You just put on a stealth suit and leave? Then again I'm not usually the stealth type character anyway.

What I did was place the bars in the area where the force-fields come up before Elijah arrives. Then I talked to him, fought him, killed him, and then grabbed the bars via glitch through the force-field (they were located on the very edge of it) and then just made my merry way out. That would be a glitch method. Apparently that's not the easiest way though.

Perhaps the sneak method or whatever is intended as a sort of joke/ironic method to bypass the DLC's concept. However the fact of the matter is that Dead Money is centered around the idea of "letting go." Part of the hard choice at the end is learning to just give up that money and live. If you don't then you don't leave the Sierre Madre. Hence its called "Dead Money". At least that's what they were going for. Just leaving with all the money means that the player character apparently learned nothing from the storyline and spit in the DLC's metaphorical face (which while funny, is also cheap IMO).

Skyrim can be a comparison because it was made by the company that now holds the rights to the Fallout series.

Making money in Skyrim is exponentially easier than in either of the new Fallout games. (3 and NV alike).

Good thing I wasn't greedy... and still held onto the gold bars.
