Ehhh, Cthulhu was rammed in the head with a boat. I don't think it'd be too tough.

What's that Lovecraft story about the old family that eventually developed into creepy mole people and dug a bunch of tunnels from their dilapidated mansion into the surrounding country? That could likely be adapted into a cool quest.

Or the one about an up and coming painter that renders extremely lifelike paintings of horrifying creatures. Some guy goes to interview him and finds out the things are living in his basemant, or something like that. It's been a while.

I think you're talking about http://www.hplovecraft.com/writings/texts/fiction/pm.asp.

I recommend this one everytime these threads come up. I think it would be very fitting.

I was just going to say Color Out of Space. That would fit perfect.

I hope Alduin looks like a Eldrich Abomination rather than just a big dragon. We have already killed dozens of dragons at that point, so something new would be nice.

And some references to stories like At The Mountain of Madness would be great.

I always like a bit of Lovecraft influence in games, subtle yet creepy, nothing like it to get your skin crawling.

So yeah I'd like to see some in Skyrim, as long as it's not too obvious - that way those in favour will be pleased, and it will go right over the heads of those who don't get it, and they won't be any the wiser. Their loss.

I don't know much (or anything) about Lovecraft but if it involves scary things and such I will welcome it with open arms

It should be something simple. Perhaps some old nordic ruins, ones that don't have a marker on your map, there is a room full of beds with skeletons on them, each one holding a dagger, and "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" across the walls.

None, please, assuming they do it in the style of hackdirt or the dunwich building. Lovecraft is only scary if it's about unreckonable monstrosities which humanity has no hope of defeating. The ghouls and puffy-faced people of dunwich and hackdirt just weren't frightening.

Actually Hackdirt scared the [censored] out of me... The caves. You're alone in the dark. And you hear this sniffing around you... :cold:

If they do include some sort of Lovecraft reference, I hope it's at least a surprise.

Personally, I was sort of disappointed my first time through Oblivion, when I opened my journal on the way to rescue Dar-Ma and saw that the quest was called Shadow over Hackdirt. From there on out, it was just filling in the blanks - hostile villagers, check - creepy chapel, check - sinister holy book, check.....
