Low FPS but how? =(

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 7:01 am

Lets get to the point. I just downloaded the Dx11 patch and HD pack. But when I play I have really poor performance =S.

My spec:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0Ghz
GPU: Sapphire HD6870 1024mb
Ram: 4GB RAM DDR3
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

But this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNIsMjm-lLQ has almost the same system but runs smooth :S?
I have the latest driver version etc etc.
Some people will say: You system svcks, but I think there is something else wrong here =(

His system is 32-bit, he isn't running the high-res textures like you are.

Your RAM is your biggest issue though, not sure about GPU/CPU

Not sure what to say about that, are you running at a higher res than his? (1920 x1080)

Im running at 1920 x 1080. I find it really strange :(,Why other people run smooth and my system not. As my system is pretty good.

The lack of L3 cache on the Athlon II really hurts performance, plus it's only at 3Ghz. Also the Radeon 6870, although a great midrange card, has significantly less shaders and texture units than the 5800 & 6900. Start overclocking the snot out of everything and see where that takes you.

5fps more? you must be doing a pethetic overclock. From stock to the clocks to 1000 core and 1400 mem on my 6990 i get about a 15 to 20 FPS gain in some apps.

Damn,KING_OF_SAND you have to decide which card you have in your rig.

If it's anything like me... Crysis 2 just ate my phenom 2 quad core at 3.82 for lunch! 90%+ usage on CPU and usage on both gpus dropped to 48-49% at certain times. They need to hurry and release the next octocore and new intel chip so I can upgrade !!

^^ that was in multiplayer

Edit: I think that may have been on skyline during an orbital strike. Gonna play around with it some more. Just installed. Looks amazing!

@galaxy366

Try disabling v-sync and see how smooth it is. Many people are suffering from the refresh rate glitch.

At 1920x1080 on Ultra and both packs, I get 24 FPS at all times with vsync on. Vsync off and I get an average of 60 FPS (45-85FPS)

There is a workaround right now to keep vsync on. Try putting it windowed, hit apply. Close the game, start it back up, while it is starting and you see the crysis EYE logo, press ALT+Tab to put it back to full screen, this will almost always cause the glitch to not happen. Go play and if it is still there, hit ALT+Tab again, then open something like fraps and then select Crysis 2 again and press ALT+Tab again. So far this has worked for me.

Try enabling triple buffering( i also use v sync), look at this GPU usage with it enabled in SP (note: the dips is when i got killed, without it enabled GPU usage was about 80-90, now it's 90-100) >>

I tried playing at 1600 x 900 and it runs much better :). I should complain, knowing that Im playing at such high resolution.

In the end i got it smooth boosting the Volts on the GPU and OCing it, i had to leave the VRAM at stock though.
Also using custom post processing, shadows extreme, water extreme.

Welcome Crysis 2 to 2011 guys, it's not 2005 anymore. Ultra settings are what they are for a reason, so you cannot complain.

your cpu is slowing you down a bit, other than that a fresh install of windows 7 might help (but i doubt it i really think your cpu is holding you back)
