Low FPS on a decent PC (RealVision + few mods installed)

Post » Fri Oct 03, 2014 10:02 am

Hi there. Recently I've upgraded my PC and I was hoping to play Skyrim again, but this time with some graphic mods. I thought my new PC will handle it with at least 35fps, but I get only ~20. It's not super-high-end PC, but I think It's good enough to handle it. My specs are: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core 4,0GHz, 8gb RAM and a GeForce GTX 660 2gb VRAM. I've installed RealVision with bunch of mods recommended on it's nexus site. 20fps it's unplayable so if anyone know what might be wrong let me know. Thanks!

What kind of Frame-rates are you getting without mods?

The x6x cards from Nvidia are the "bang for the buck" cards that give decent game performance for a good price. They are not able to handle some of the eye candy that mods can hang on this game. You will have to be choosy about which graphics mods you use and balance pretty with performance. ENB's are about the biggest impact on Frame Rates, or anything else that post processes the video of the game.

So, uninstall all the graphics mods you applied. Then add them back one at time taking note of the performance impact after each one you add back. Then decide if that mod or mod mix is worth the performance hit or not. Once your over 40 FPS, then the gameplay is smooth and fluid. So, that would be a good target to shoot for.

I will move this to the mods section as this is mod related. Nothing you can do with the hardware is going to help you.

Turn off shadows, they are poorly done and kill frame rates.

Good stuff here. Also make sure the "power management mode" is set to maximum performance (from adaptive) in the driver settings.

Thanks guys. One more question: are other EMB mods as demanding as RealVision?
