Low FPS - Fairly decent rig

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 4:13 pm

My game is very stuttery, and I usually get about 5 - 6 fps at any given moment, which is strange considering it runs Skyrim with Ultra high graphics, FXAA Post Processing mods and enb series okay. It takes a looong time to load a save game as well, oh and I have been lurking, looking for a solution for days now, I have tried this (http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=34970) but to no avail, all it did was give me a very small improvement in performance, but that is probably just because I uninstalled Enhanced shaders

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thank you.

Hows your framerates with no mods loaded at all. Disable everything including graphic mods which means you will need to switch off archive invalidated. You need to backup the .ini
files also and remake them.

It is much better without the mods, but it is quite early, last time I tried it, it started off okay, barely noticeable, then got worse and worse. If I am to start a new game (I don't really want to) which mods should I keep and which should go?

Frame rate hits come mainly from graphic mods, but they can also come from regular mods because of the scripts that they have to run.

Gear mods should be fine. Mods that change general settings
or add items should be ok too. Remove graphic mods or add lite versions (if they have them) for added fps.

Play with the enb series if you're using it. Often you can configure it to use better performance options.

Ambient occlusion in your nvidia driver (if you have an nvidia) also eats up fps.

Enable half your mods and try the game (no graphic mods on). See if you can figure out what specific mods are causing fps issues. Again keep archive invalidated off while doing this. Try all mods with graphic mods off and on.

Play with it a bit to see if you can find the spot where fps is tolerable.

Honestly you have alot of mods and it's up to you to make sure you have the correct load order and none of them conflict or cause performance
issues. Make sure to read about each mod you plan to use before adding it.
