Low Intelligence Dialogue Problem

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:02 am

Hi, I'm playing a low intelligence character, and I was really looking forward to the low intelligence dialogue.

But after 8 hours there hasn't been any times when NPCs have acted like my character is dumb, or given me any dumb conversation options.

The only time that the game acknowledged my low intelligence was right after using the SPECIAL machine, where upon the doc commented on my lack of intelligence. After that, it was as though I was playing with a normal intelligence character.

I was wondering if there was a way to manually set/mod some kind of setting to activate the low intelligence dialogue.

I understand that it's not every line that's made dumb, but after 8 hours of gameplay I can't just discount it as not having come across it, as I've heard that low intelligence dialogue even exists in Goodsprings.

Thank you for any help,
Wulph

Perhaps it's the same bug, maybe the game isn't detecting that the special dialogue options should be used.

1 INT here too : D

I didn't play the older Fallouts unfortunately, though I've seen some of the dumb dialogue on YouTube. When I found out about it in New Vegas I was really excited.

That RedViv in your thread, hopefully they'll post some screens to confirm. It's a really really annoying bug.

On a side note, I find your avatar to be most awesome.

is it confirmed that there was supposed to be separate conversations for low int characters?

it wasn't in F03, still very disappointing none the less.

Yes, it's been confirmed that low intelligence characters will have unique dialogue and reactions from NPCs.

It wasn't in Fallout 3, but it is in New Vegas, Fallout's returning to it's roots a bit : D

sort of. "stupid" characters in one and two had a completely separate dialog set to reflect their lack of intelligence. a few nods from npcs and some dialog options hardly compares imo.

Yes, but the problem is that those dialog options aren't showing up for people like me and CENB71.

If you can tolerate the [censored] graphics and boring gameplay(but doesnt have to walk a miles like in new fallout) you should try Fallout 2, its the best.. not mention that i hate the gameplay it's too old school.

I'd rather play New Vegas to be honest : D Just waiting for a fix, I'm sure they're working hard on the next patch.

I'm really tempted to play a low intelligence game of Fallout 1/2 while the crashs are getting dealt with.

Be sure to go 1 Int and 10 Luck for more hilarious stuff
(3 int you talk like an Orgre, 1 int you talk like a [censored] born children, you can try both but 1 int is more funny.)

Luck gives more chance to get more funny random encounter, some random encounter dialogue result are specially made for dumb character.

Where is it confirmed?

It could be as simple as that there are no dumb conversations based on INT.

In the Game Informer preview, quote: Low intelligence dialogue options are back. However, instead of speaking gibberish, dumb characters now simply miss the point of things. "When there's a line that shows a bit of higher intelligence, your character just botches it and says something realy dumb and doesn't get it. That way we can tailor it a little more, so we're not simply rewriting every single line of dialogue with a dumb version. When it's called for, the player says something extra dumb and the character responds to it. Sometimes it affects you negatively, sometimes it's funny. Sometimes it actually has a positive outcome." /quote

Plus I've seen people everywhere on forums and No Mutants Allowed saying low intelligence dialogue is confirmed before the game was released, as well as the GECK having "support for low-intelligence dialogue."

Trust me, there is definately low intelligence dialogue, it's just not working for some people.

There's also a confirmation in Strategy Guide.

Sad.

Ive used Blackwidow a lot and Cherchez La Femme once mostly in the Strip though, Ive used Blackwidow afew times before once during the quest "Come fly with me" & 2 other times... Well there is 1 quest its Ring a ding ding when you finally get to Benny if you have Blackwidow you can well seduce him then you do the naughty with him...... Cherchez La Femme sadly i only used it when i was getting info on a casino but i know for a fact that there are afew other places to use it.

about the Speech you'll be getting those a lot -but- you have to look for them i've ran into -a lot- of them and the barter once or twice but thats mostly dealing with the CC during the "Young Love" quest (dont remember if thats the name of it but it did have love in its name) or when ever i talk to a vendor I got a few Science coversations too but just a few.

but then again i run with a Character with a intell of 7+ & cha of 7+ never really did that think i'll give it a try.....(at higher levels)

This is really disappointing, I loved playing a moron in Arcanum. It svcks that they claimed to be bringing it back (didn't even know it was in the originals, even though I've played them a bunch. "Boring gameplay" my ass) but then didn't bother. I figure them not delivering is more likely, since some of the stuff they talked about pre-release turned out not to be true - I remember reading that there was only going to be a single Enclave character.
