Instead of dropping mods, kill off some of the background processes you don't need while playing. Gamebooster should do that for you.... sounds like you have a memory leak somewhere.

No sens toying with it. Buy another 4 g. and upgrade your win to 64 os. You will have to do it earlier or later ,so just do it earlier.

If not. You should check your mem usage by task manager. These "game something" stuff have one bad thing you like - make things without your control. Turn off services, autostart not important things one by one by hand. Your antyvir is ?

No, 4 gigabyte of RAM is fine for gaming as long as you aren't using massive amounts of mods and super large texture replacers. Throwing money at something is never a good idea. Plus, with technology, it's actually better to upgrade later, not earlier, because prices drop quickly over time and new tech is coming out every day.

@OP - By "System Memory" do you mean RAM, or a low page file? A low page file is easily corrected if that is the problem, with no hassle at all.

How would i detect/fix that?

currently i dont have the funds to do that. I will however hopefully be building a new system from scratch after income tax. win7 64bit pro, quad core, 8gb ram, amd radeon 6950 - should handle just about anything i through at it

the page that pops up has a link to another page that tells me its my system RAM.

and i do agree that 4gb of ram is plenty for gaming, but my future system will have 8gb just to insure that i will have plenty of head room for any reason.

1. Ram is now chip.
2. Os. Right if you want to wait for win 8. But if the way (chip and easy) is to up your os why not.
3. The mods he has are enough to choc this 1.8 (or something) ram the game can use.

There's no way to play long without CTD without large address flag on and OSR heap replacer.

Errata:
Maybe PCB?

What do you mean by RAM is a chip? Yes, RAM is a type of physical memory, if that is what you are trying to say.
Also, if he has an old computer, there is a chance that his CPU would not support a 32bit OS, explaining why it is only 32bit in the first place.

And I play without either of those and rarely CTD

then could it be a mem leak? is there a program i can run that would detect that? is there a way to fix it?

1. win7 64 pro. When I bought my os the price difference (?) between home premium and pro was too high relative differences between OSs. But it was long time ago.
2. radeon 6950 . Good card for now only. If you can wait , maybe it's better think about new 28 nm cards ?

Does not help that you are Using OOO 1.33 with MMM 3.7b3..

You should upgrade OOO to version 1.34beta5..

No. MMM gives new creatures and NPC. It's heavy for CPU rather.

But if you get some performance problems:
1. Use OSR , rather Borland heap in your case. But you must read abouy OSR and test to get best ini for your system
2. Use some PCB (streamline for example) to clear your memory (only for this, and no while interior/exterior transmission is proceeding )
3. There is one good oblivion ini tweak - ugridtoload = 15 (for example of course). If you use Al Natural may use fog distance tweaks to mask effect by lowering this.

edited:
I don't know ATI or Nvidia will be better . But 28 nm in comparison to 40 - this is revolution.
