Loyalty to your first weapon?

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 10:36 am

You all know what I'm talking about. Maybe not the first weapon you ever get your hands on, but the first semi-quality sword you get at a low level.

In my case, I dropped the Amulet of Kings off at the Priory, then went to Chorrol and joined the Fighter's Guild. Upstairs there was the perfect sword for my knight-like character. A Fine Steel Longsword. It did a good amount of damage, but I cared more that it looked so cool. I still think it's one of the coolest swords in the game. A decorated blade and and ornate hilt. I enchanted it with a sigil stone and kept it at all times, even when I started getting Ebony weapons.

Anyone else show the same loyalty to their first favored weapon?

For me it was the iron mace. Kept it for as long as I could, then put it on display in the fortress I won with it [Battlehorn].

Good luck killing anything with a rusty iron dagger after the tutorial dungeon.

Nope. Though I will keep cool looking weapons around longer than necessary, even when I find more powerful weapons that I could use instead.

I won't use a weapon, not on my first playthrough, I'll only use spells as a pure mage.

I agree, that's why I said I meant the first weapon you actually used. Like in my case, a fine steel longsword.

Ahh, the loop-hole to my poll. This doesn't really apply to spell-casters, now does it?

This is pretty much my one issue with RPGs; it is essential to keep swapping weapons. I like how in games like Zelda and Shadow of the Colossus, it's just the hero and his one sword. Or like in say, Lord of the Rings. You don't see the hobbits dropping their weapons for better loot. I would prefer to have just that one trusty weapon. Perhaps with blacksmithing and the ability to upgrade weapons and armor, it will be feasible to hang on to some of those lower level weapons for a while.

It will be stored in my house, along with every set of armour, every weapon, and everything else able to be hoarded.

very first weapon no it gets sold at the earies oportunity. though the next one i usualy keep and place in my house when it is no longer usefull. the rusty iron stuff is just rather useless so i hold no attatchment to it.

i do the same with my first suit of armour and such

I wouldn't mind seeing some upgrades for weapons i.e. Fallout New Vegas. Diamond-dust edged blade, improves damage. Reinforced hilt improves swing speed. Emerald Pommel Stone improves enchantability/Enchantment...etc etc..

Mine was the iron battle axe, it was the perfect image of a medieval battle axe. I kept it until it started to be troublesome, so I put it in my house :)

I may have a signiture weapon that I get earlier in the game, but it most likely won't be the first one I find.
