Luck to 100...

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 8:58 am

Hey guys, I started a new game after I messed up trying to get my Luck to 100 (started too late).

Is it possible for me, a High Elf Sorcerer to get MY Luck to 100? I viewed the 'UESP:Wiki" and it said that I could, BUT I did the math for my stats and I don't think I can get to level 51 without my major stats hitting 100. :(

What can I do?

I made sure to NOT level ANY of my major skills (all Magic with Heavy Armor).

- Heavy Armor (25)
- Alchemy (35)
- Alteration (40)
- Conjuration (35)
- Destruction (40)
- Mysticism (40)
- Restoration (30)

Because of the Character Based increases I get in many of those Major Attributes, I don't think I can get to Level 51 and have my Luck at 100.

I've always (in every game) made use of efficient leveling, raising each governing skill by 5 each time.

If your aim is to get Luck to 100 asap. You should have picked The Thief as your birthsign and selected Luck as one of your starting attributes. That way you'd start out with 65 Luck and only need to get to level 36.

Right, yeah, I read that, but I also want the greatest Magicka (without the detriments), thus choosing the Mage Birth-sign instead.

No, for this, no. What do you have in mind?

Note, that I'm not on the PC so modifying code is out of the question...

Luck gives you a fortify skill effect on most your skills but never above 100. At the high level you need to have luck at 100 I suppose you will have most skills at 100 or near it. I’m not sure raising you luck to 100 will suppose any difference from having it at 90.

I agree, but just for the sake of things, I want it at 100. :)

Seeing how you're not above glitching and exploitations, you could
Spoiler
go to jail a couple of times to lower your skills

Yeah, I thought of that, but how would I isolate the skills?

No no... even better than that. Get a sigil stone at level 17 with fortify magicka 50. put it on a ring named m1. Dupe the ring. Put one ring on , then drop the other. Instant added 50 magicka. Permanent however. Ruins the game however. I warned you. And the extras must be destroyed, as in left in an Oblivion gate. Or suffer amazing lag. That way, you can boost your luck with the Thief birthsign, and get magicka too.

I tried it on one character.... it was fun to make super-amazing powerful spells, because of all the magic I had.... however, the game quickly became boring. Super boring. And I've never done it again.

Imo you should focus more on working up your skills than rely on luck

I'm not sure if it will work, but I have noticed that if you cast Drain Skill on yourself before buying training from a trainer the cost is based on the reduced value of the skill. I also think I could train a skill that was supposed to already be maxed out, but I was vampire at the time and the only reason the skill was maxed was because my vampire abilites were fortifying it. So I can't guarantee it will work on a non-vampire.

But if it works, it should go like this: 1st you max a major skill. For your character Conjuration would probably the best choice. It increases extremely fast and being able to summon a Clannfear at level 6 is huge. Then you find the master trainer and get yourself a 5 point Drain Conjuration on self spell for a couple of seconds. Cast it on yourself and if this works you should be able to buy training from the guy which will count as 5 points towards increasing your level. The other 5 points though you'll have to get the old fashioned way. But this should still allow you to get to level 70 or so. If it works. I really wnt to stress that I'm unsure whether or not it will work.

If it fails, just stick to the jail exploit.

So you're saying that I'd need to max every skill to 100, drain each one with a spell before buying training which then will STILL count towards leveling? Do this for each skill and level another 3 times having 7 skills to do this with? I need level 51, not 49.

I don't know if you've already thought about this, but Mysterium Xarxes gives you 3 extra levelups if all of the skills are majors, as it will be for you if you choose the Path of the Spirit.

He means the Oghma Infinium, I believe.

Completion of Hermaeus Mora's quest gives you the book, which presents you with three options. Choosing the Path of the Spirit increases you intelligence and willpower by 10, as well as increasing your conjuration, destruction, and restoration by 10 each. These increases count toward level-ups, so for you, it would be three extra levels if these skills are already at 100 upon completion of the quest.

Excellent! :D I made a new Warrior Class character, so I THINK I can get to Level 48, then plus the three will make 51. Thanks guys, I always wondered how to do that quest on that massive hill in the Jeralls.

That shouldn't be necessary, really. Most of my magic wielding characters have taken the Thief as their main birthsign and do just fine. The trick is to master the schools of magicka you intend to use quickly to reduce spell cost. Luck reduces spell cost, too, if I recall.

The Oghma Infinium, the reward from the final daedric quest increases 3 skills and 2 attributes by 10 each. Choose path of spirit and you get 10 more intelligence, 10 destruction, 10 restoration, and either 10 illusion or alteration, I don't remember which. The willpower increase doesn't work.
