Reminds me of when I used to lure Mammoths into bandit camps in Skyrim.
Fun stuff.

"Hold on to anything shiny. It might have hidden value."
...I can take this a few ways.
Looking back at the video, the rifle does look the same as the one he used to attack that large insect. Then again, the description for Luck includes the ability to find better loot. The word loot can include anything from caps to other items. I guess we will have to wait and see everything that Luck affects.
Maybe, but I'd be willing to bet it's combat-related to some extent due to 1) the pose of Vault Boy. They could have just had a leprechaun waving next to a pot of gold, and 2) the whole "fighting irish" thing.
So do we know for certain yet if crits can be done randomly and not just tied to the crit-bar/vats?
Better that than 'US' and 'Foreign Nation'
(which I've seen )
Lol, I'm hoping that when the game comes out, the full description of Luck of the Irish is "unexpected magic."
I wonder how many others think misfortune(from new vegas) might be back. Just from using that word along with a female npc coming along. *shrugs* In any event, I am certain it will be modded in eventually. Or I wonder if the mysterious stranger will have multiple perk levels...
I think "Luck of the Irish" could also add to unique dialogue perhaps with better outcomes. See the blarney stone bestowing the gift of gab.
edit changed gap to gab.
Hey, Grim Reaper's Sprint is for "building a streak" this time. Looks like I may be right about it refilling your crit meter with every critical kill, instead of refilling AP - that would make killing Mole Rats a lot more fun.
Still no idea what L9 does, though. Could be random encounters, could be something unexpected from critical hits... I'm going to bank on, for no particular reason, it giving you an unexpected chance to bounce back from situations that would have killed you. But I truly do not know. And that damn L5 perk is still a mystery!
Honestly, I think that's a damn good guess! As I noted earlier, I think that perk has something to do with combat since VB has a fighting pose and the fighting Irish thing. A chance for revival for you and your companions would make perfect sense!
After rolling a Luck 10 character in FO3, I noticed Luck is pretty damn amazing.
Might be fun to try Luck 1 once just for laughs, but I think most characters I roll will start with 9.
I didn't see anything to make Luck more attractive; rather, the video seemed to reinforce my assumption that Luck would be "fickle". I prefer reliable benefits, not subject to the whims of fate (or random number generators). If anything, the video seemed to go out of its way to point out the DOWN sides to relying on Luck.
I just hope that that doesn't mean that having a ~low~ Luck score would make you terribly UN-lucky. I don't mind losing out on the amazing benefits of a high Luck stat, I just don't want to ~suffer~ because of a low Luck stat. If H feel ~forced~ to get enough Luck to avoid weapon jams and foes getting critical hits on me all the time, etc then I might get a bit miffed, even when I get "good fortune" because it'll just remind me that I ~had~ to get the good luck boosts to avoid the horrible, horrible.problems of low Luck.
I'm assuming L9 is defensive in some way, in the very least - it already looks like we have a ton of perks for dealing damage and criticals with Bloody Mess, Better Criticals, and whatever L7 does. Does anyone have any guesses about L5? Maybe that's the random encounter perk?
I don't think you need to worry too much about that - Luck can't be disproportionately more important than any of the other SPECIAL stats, Bethesda seems to be actively avoiding that kind of imbalance.
In the previous games there were lots of perks and special weapon attacks that proc on critical hit, for example Superslam (knockdown), Revelation Sonic Emitter (paralyze), etc. With 10 Luck in FNV and FO3, you are almost constantly critting.
Will be interesting to see how this works in FO4 now that you build up the crit meter and choose when you want to spend it. I wonder how Luck affects this.
I think L9 will be a chance to spawn a leprechaun, obviously with loot on him. I think it would be a cool idea, you're crawling through an outpost and all of a sudden you see a leprechaun, you decide to shoot it but miss and you end up having to chase him through hordes of raiders and bullets to finally corner him and collect his loot.
"Howard" during the E3 demo had 10 Luck, that might be a clue...
No, and we've never seen a critical outside VATS by the player character.
I saw that too and thought it could be a hint or he's trolling us. I will try very high luck for my first character in Fallout 4 just because I never had a high Luck character in New Vegas or Fallout 3.
We haven't? During the video with Preston Garvey, as he's going through the museum with the Laser Musket there's a critical hit on the last raider right before he talks to Garvey. No VATS there, and I'm almost positive that wasn't a cut.
That was by Pretson Garvey and I'm sure it was scripted.
Oh I thought you meant down in the street.
Either way that was VATS.
Definitely vats. They cut out the portion where he targeted the raider.
I'm talking about the part https://youtu.be/GrX-QT19Ro0?t=3m2s, sorry.
I don't think they did. It plays out smoothly, like a standard kill-cam.
