Head Paladin Ben Stone - Brotherhood of Steel

"You of all those gathered should understand where I'm coming from. If all of you wish to go down a road I assure you another Great War will take place and what is left of humanity will be extinguished.

OOC: I'm surprised Ulysses is against it seeing what he has.

OOC: He's against the brotherhood in-game, so I went with that viewpoint.

Ulysses

"Not as simple as that... the Bear repeats failure in blind ignorance, but that doesn't mean that they will cause another Great War; it means that they will continue to roll around in the same failed ideas, over and over again, until they realize what they are doing. The Brotherhood thinks that by hoarding technological progress for themselves, that they can save the world... it's madness. It will never work, and it will just lead to your tribe fighting to its death with a nation focused on progress. Sitting in a hole with Old World tech is worthless and irrelevant when compared to what other nations are doing, nations with ideologies, with strength, with progress. The Brotherhood will die out soon if it doesn't change, which I doubt it will... but I still offer you my perspective."

James Turner - The Kings

"Swell! Then it's a deal bud, I'll pass the word onto the King, and the Kings will be down in Novac within the week. Now if you'll excuse me, It's the barber's birthday and I'm paying for the booze."

*And with that, Turner stands, combs his fingers through his slicked back hair, Pops the collar of his leather jacket, and turns to leave, slipping a bottle of whiskey into his pocket as he makes for the door.

What makes you better than the rest of us?

You and I are no different. The Brotherhood's ideals were good when the wasteland was populated by raiders and maniacs but those days are over for the Mojave.

Look around, we're all as civilized as you and more civilized than your friend was. I am sorry about his breakdown.

If you are wiling to cooperate we can get him the world's greatest treatment at the Followers' psychiatric ward at what used to be the NCR's Camp Golf.

We need a few things from one another from what I understand.

You need to be able to leave your bunker in daylight without hostiles and we need you to stop attacking our caravans. If you're willing to cooperate then you'll survive.

If not then you will be declaring war on everybody around you.

If you stop attacking caravans we will give you enough vegetables to feed all of your people.

You can establish a town outside of Hidden Valley's bunker if you are willing to no longer try and take weapons from us.

You are the last raiders in the Mojave and more civilized than most raiders.

Head Paladin Ben Stone - Brotherhood of Steel

After taking several heavy gulps of water he sets the glass down and buries his head in his hands. *Sigh* "You know what if you all want to kill each other with energy weapons go right ahead but when this country is once again threatened by nuclear fire don't come crying to us about being right. And as for the assistance your offering we don't want it.

I am glad we can reach an agreement but are you sure?

What about the Followers of the Apocalypse? They are a peaceful people who will show you farming secrets and medical treatments.

That's something I would like to ask you about, how much food would it take for you to give up Helios One?

We see it as an important place and it's dangerous in your position.

Raynor laughed.
''With all due respect, your so called ''hidden Valley'' aint so hidden anymore. Its only a matter of time Brotherhood, its either join the future or die in the past, and mark my words, you are not defending technology by isolating yourself in a hole in the ground, cause one day that hole will either fill in, or get blown up, and when that day comes, you will pray to god that you came to the surface to atleast try to hear us out. We are but business men trying to survive and profit from the now, the future is uncertain, but you hiding in a whole to secure your secrets from everyone else is not helping the future. So Paladin, i ask you once more, stop your petty raiding of tech, and join us in a hope for a better future, with weapons supplied by us of course.''

But you're not the one in charge of keeping four large settlements safe.

Hidden Valley makes its own electricity, Novac, Nelson, Searchlight, and Cottonwood don't.

How much would you like to at least gurantee we'll get electricity from it? You can still control it though.

*Kruser sighs deeply and closes his eyes. "Your words are wise, Nightkin." *Kruser then opens his eyes "You have suffered so greatly, suffered so much abuse from humans and yet you strive for peace? The Bull is humanity's best chance for survival, do you not see this"? *Kruser closes his eyes again and meditates on all that has transpired.
The Lobotomite - Ambassador of Black Mountain

"Humanity has already survived the worst catastrophe in its brief existence. Humanity must now not only survive, but thrive as well and the Legion will not accomplish this in the way it has so far excelled at."

*He glances briefly at Ulysses*
"They say war never changes, but men do through the roads they walk. The Bull must change or it will inevitably fall as so many nations before have. War is never a good long term solution, learn something from the empire Caesar(pronounces it Kaisar) based his Legion off of and focus more on the other areas of a developing nation."

Yes, the Brotherhood could protect Helios while sending its electricity to a neighboring nation... it would benefit both sides in the long term; it would give the Brotherhood purpose.

That is a good deal but I feel guilty.

We are willing to simply give you food and teach you how to farm well. If you're willing to just keep HELIOS One unharmed if you can keep it deal but I think you should get more out of this deal.

Because the Legion sitll cannot be trusted and if I want my people to sleep at night they need to be able to feel safe.

They won't feel safe with a large army of slavers living just south of them.

Across a river is another story though.

"You speak the truth, Lobotomite... history stands behind your word. The Brotherhood can learn from this if they are willing, but the Bull... they survive only because of war, and that is something too powerful to change... would have to change their whole ideology... would destroy them just as much as they will be destroyed when war is no longer possible."
