Luddite faction

Post » Sat Jul 30, 2011 12:49 pm

How about a group that is completely opposed to technology? They only use low-tech things, and are all about destroying high-tech ones. So if you come to them with any high-tech weapons or Pipboy, they will try to kill ya?

Would make for a few interesting quests.

Before anyone says anything: Legion is not what he's asking for, Legion has nothing against technology!

You're fun!

Ok...4 serious time :toughninja:

Are you like looking for the Amish? A violent Amish tribe would be great! Tech does cause problems it can be evil, the end credits to OWB kinds dealt with that.

On actual gameplay, your player constantly having a pip-boy would only be hostile to this faction, and I don't think much story could really come from it unfortunately. It would be like what the Vipers are in FNV, raiders with a special name.

You could be an exception, similar to the case of Caesar's Legion, they let a profligate into their ranks, or others like the brothehood.

They see you destroy their mortal enemy and look at your wrist, and spit at you. But then they realize you could help them kill thier mortal enemy.

1. Not really, I'm just very loud.

2. I had an idea for a faction of tribals that control a vast area of land, they consider tech to be evil, that mankind destroyed itself and the planet by going too far with it. They live in huts and tents, very similar to american indians. Only place they trade with that isn't theirs is an Amish town, it's the connection to the technological world and the tribal world.
Anyone that enters their lands and ignore the signs of warning they have placed out are either instantly killed or taken capture to be sacrificed later.

But when they are distinctly anti-tech and your player is pretty much tech personified...I just don't see how it would work. With CL, you are human, you can be changed, recruited to the lifestyle. like Gabriel (I hope you understand I was obviously joking around with you.) said, they don't fit this description.

I could see them using you and then killing you like the brain did in PL

Fixed

That'd be interesting, but I probally would just kill me if they wanted me dead all the time. Or they would be similar to the khans in New Vegas, barely play a role, almost as if theya re just there.

Just trying to give good reasons for the faction to be useful to the player.

How about: The Brotherhood of Metal. Instead of BoS, we got BoM. They hoard all the low tech stuff for themselves and don't like sharing. They are protecting people form using such low tech weaponry! Anything from tire irons to to even the legendary wasteland outfits, all must be reclaimed!

I like Iron better than metal, Brotherhood of Iron. Iron the crappier version of steel.

Yep. Being kicked out from both the Brotherhood of Steel and the NCR Rangers has taken its toll on his sanity. :sadvaultboy:

I guess we know where we will find him in the wild wasteland quest for finding all the dinosuars, leading the brotherhood of iron.
