I just opened a Lunchbox that had 2 500 Cap cards and some BS water/power cards. Just what my 600,000 Cap vault needed! And I worked hard to get that lunch box..............Bah Humbug!

How old is your vault? Is it started before or after the December updates?

I just started a new one, and bought some lunchboxes to get it going.

I am happy to report that the lunchboxes are much better now! In a pack of 40 I was able to build 7 rooms, fill them with people, and make sure that most of the people had a gun. I only got 6 legendaries in the whole 40 boxes, but that's a lot better than I got in the last packs I bought pre-update. There are a lot of good rare ( blue ) guns in the boxes now, and I was able to fully outfit my deathclaw kill room with very good blue weapons and a couple of gold ones.

But my old vault is still getting craps from the boxes earned.

Well, I don't know if a vault's age has anything to do with it. Maybe.

My new vault is ROCKING thanks to the goodies from the lunchboxes, but yeah, my old vaults still have craptastic lunchboxes.

I have learned from another post in this forum that the content of the lunchboxe are fixed the time you get it. It is since the October update. Bethesda do not want players to cheat by saved game.

It should be sourced from Reddit but I do not know how to find the link.

Getting 500 caps as a 'rare' reward is garbage

How about Santa, it appears frequently in the lunchboxes. Not much use for C3P2.

These are all old vaults, so it might not answer your question. Lunchboxes seem slightly better then 1.2, but nowhere as nice as 1.1.

v1.3 lunchboxes

  • Lever Action Rifle, 50 Water, 100 Caps, Commander Uniform

  • Enhanced Hunting Rifle, 100 Caps , Stimpak, 500 Caps

  • Nightwear, 50 Food, 100 Caps, Rare Dweller

  • Stimpak, 100 Caps, Junior Officer Uniform, Rare Dweller

  • Stimpak, 100 Caps, Assault Rifle, 500 Caps

  • Scoped .44, 100 Caps, Stimpak, 500 Caps

  • 100 Caps, Santa Suit, Stimpak, Rare Dweller

  • 50 Food, 500 Caps, Junior Officer Uniform, 500 Caps

  • 50 Water, 500 Caps, Santa Suit, Rare Dweller

  • Tuned Laser Pistol, Radaway, 100 Caps, 500 Caps

  • 100 Caps, Elf Outfit, 50 Power, 500 Caps

  • Santa Suit, 50 Water, 100 Caps, Elf Outfit

v1.2.1 lunchboxes for the same vaults

  • 50 Food, 100 Caps, Rusty Scoped .44, 500 Caps

  • Combat Armor, 50 Water, 100 Caps, Armor Piercing Assault Rifle

  • 50 Food, 100 Caps, Military Fatigues, 500 Caps

  • 100 Caps, Stimpak, 10mm Pistol, 500 Caps

  • 50 Food, 100 Caps, Wrestler Outfit, 500 Caps

  • 50 Water, 100 Caps, Enhanced Lever Action Rifle, Railway Rifle

  • 100 Caps, Stimpak, Rusty Hunting Rifle, 500 Caps

  • Armored Vault Suit, 500 Caps, 50 Food, 500 Caps

  • 100 Caps, 50 Power, Enhanced BB Gun, Rare Dweller

  • 50 Power, 100 Caps, Armor Piercing 10mm Pistol, Sturdy Merc Gear

  • 100 Caps, 50 Food, Hunting Rifle, Mayor Outfit

  • 100 Caps, Stimpak, Hunting Rifle, Elder Robe

  • 50 Water, Radiation Suit, 100 Caps, Rare Dweller

  • 100 Caps, 50 Water, Pilgrim Outfit, 500 Caps

  • Stimpak, 100 Caps, Sawed-off Shotgun, Heavy Raider Armor

  • 50 Power, 100 Caps, Pilgrim Outfit, Enhanced Lever Action Rifle

  • Radaway, Military Fatigues, 500 Caps, Professor Outfit

  • 100 Caps, Pilgrim outfit, 50 Power, Rare Dweller

  • 100 Caps, 50 Power, Scoped .44, 500 Caps

  • 50 Water, 10mm Pistol, 500 Caps, Pressurized Flamer

  • 500 Caps, Rusty Sawed-off Shotgun, 50 Power, Combat Shotgun

  • 100 Caps, 50 Power, Hunting Rifle, Rare Dweller

  • 100 Caps, 50 Water, Junior Officer Uniform, Rare Dweller

  • Enhanced Sawed-off Shotgun, 100 Caps, Stimpak, 500 Caps

  • T-51a Power Armor, 50 Power, 100 Caps, Rare Dweller

  • Handyman Jumpsuit, 100 Caps, 50 Water, Assault rifle

  • Hunting Rifle, Stimpak, 100 Caps, Engineer Outfit

  • 100 Caps, 50 Power, Rusty 10mm Pistol, Rare Dweller

  • 100 Caps, 50 Food, Rusty .32 Pistol, Rare Dweller

  • 50 Food, 100 Caps, Rusty Laser Pistol, Heavy Battle Armor

v1.1.320 lunchboxes(I didn't write most of mine down, it wasn't until hearing that v1.2 boxes svcked that I started this.)

  • 50 Water, Sawed-off Shotgun, 100 Caps, Rare Dweller

  • Lab Coat, Stimpak, 100 Caps, Fat Man

  • 100 Caps, Stimpak, Rusty Laser Pistol, Mayor Outfit

  • 500 Caps, Radaway, Rusty .32 Pistol, Rusty Shotgun

  • Stimpak, 100 Caps, .32 Pistol, Tuned Laser Pistol

  • Rusty Laser Pistol, Stimpak, 100 Caps, Rusty Plasma Rifle

  • Stimpak, 100 Caps, .32 Pistol, Armor Piercing BB Gun

  • 50 Food, 100 Caps, Rusty Lever Action Rifle, 500 Caps

  • 100 Caps, Rusty Scoped .44, Stimpak, Rare Dweller

  • 50 Food, 100 Caps, Raider Armor, Rusty Combat Shotgun

  • Rusty Combat Shotgun, 50 Water, 100 Caps, Rare Dweller

  • 100 Caps, 50 Water, Enhanced .32 Pistol, Naughty Nightwear

So from what I'm seeing, V1.3 boxes have more rare dwellers and boxes that do have the 500 cap card at least seem to get one other rare in them. This isn't really enough boxes to tell for sure though.

I have started a new vault last week, the feeling is different from the old one.

There is some pet and Mr Handy in the objectives. But playing my old vault do not have any.

It is quite annoying that most of the lunchboxes come with a Santa or Elf outfit. Since both items do not have "E", I would prefer other rare items.

The vault is now 2 weeks old, I have opened 21 boxes. There are 4 legendary dwellers, 5 legendary outfits and 4 legendary weapons. (Out fits and weapons mainly comes with dwellers)

The luck is only with the early vault, the three lunchboxes that follows have 500 Caps, with only one rare outfit worth to mention.

Are you guys still seeing Christmas decorations in your vaults? I'm not. The snow is gone, too. I guess it's safe to open lunchboxes again without getting a bunch of Santa suits.
