This.

There's a limit to how high they can push the cap before they break the levelling system again and have to start putting in bullet sponges.

It's been broken since release date, Dead Money was just insult to injury.

I agree with you here. I think nv enemies need the rank up not me.
I d miss leveling more but they shouldn t do it unless they add "bullet sponges" kind of like your self. Some of those "bullet sponges" from fo3 could kill u......sm overlord

It isn't just the combat that is broken by the vanilla cap but the skills and perks too.
And honestly, I wouldn't blame being at lvl 35 as the thing that unbalanced the combat.
IIRC we get +5 HP each level, this means that from lvl 25 to 35 we got +50 hp.
Hardly enough to "greatly" unbalance it.
What is unbalancing the game combat wise is allowing us, the players, to use an infinite amount of stimpacks, drugs and food items.
We're allowed to use poisons and special moves in VATS with Melee and Unarmed (Outside of VATS with Unarmed.)
We're allowed to use top notch weaponry while most enemies get zilch.

So really, the level cap being at 30 or 35 is not what is unbalancing the combat.
It's the rest of the overall design with player items vs enemy items.

What a higher cap unbalances is the choice and consequence with perks and skills.
Instead of being a specialized character we end up being master of all trades.

So in short: +level cap unbalances the skills and perks.
Player gear and item availability unbalances the combat.

(Well, that and the fact that combat is very predictable the 2nd time around let alone the 4th or 7th time around.)

I'd like to see it go to 40 but thats it. they'd also need to put in overlords and albinos as normal enemies to fight.

Yep and another raise will just be kicking us while we are down and taking our wallet. If there is one it need to be optional.

If there is one it need to be optional.

Sadly, Sawyer was asked on his... Blog or whatever it is if they would consider making something optional that others wouldn't like in a DLC and he said "No, this isn't Options: The Game."
So either it's in or it's not, there is no in between.

That svcks. I can see how that would be for something like hardcoe Mode. Its not hardcoe Mode if you can pick what you want, but for something like level increase. Its a matter of wanting a good RPG that is some what balanced, or a FPS with RPG elements fighting bullet sponges :sadvaultboy:

You're going to hate the conclusion of Honest Hearts then.

Spoiler
To complete the DLC, It will be mandatory for you to have to kill the oiled up Super Mutant Bruce Willis by throwing him into a volcano

@Arenthian- So we're supposed to be locked out of additional lore and story just because it has a feature that breaks the delicate balance? Not good for business nor public approval.

If you want a game full of mindless Bullet Sponge, that need ten mini nukes to take down, go back and play Fallout 3 with broken steel!

See what I did there?

I would like New Vegas to stay a Fallout Game. The balance in New Vegas is not great but it would be completely ruined with another level cap boost. I don't want New Vegas to become Fallout 3. Full of stupid bullet sponges and my character being an über god, master of all. Before I am even a quarter way through the game

I agree with all of that gabriel, everybit of it. Getting another 5 levels would only make all of what you said worse. I like leveling, but I don t see how it could fit. Unless they bring out Legit type CL or sm overlords. You would loose to a sm overlord in a pure straight up hp battle if they had tri beam or gattling laser.

I never take drugs or stims in the middle of combat. I only take them if I can get to cover. Even then I pretend the pip boy doesn t stop time, and I judge how much I could take in that little bit of time.

That is what made the legit hard for me on my first playthrough, because him and his little guard guys will end u quickly. There is no where to go to take cover, and they r chasing u. 2nd time I was ready for him and for some reason he came down to me in the first section of that camp. If he would have stayed on that hill and waited for me it would have still been hard.

But even if you want your character in the world to be a god, its still nice to have a challege its not fun if all im doing is swatting flies.

Hey those mutants could use the high tech tri beam laser rifle, and still hit u and damage u way out side of optimal range for one. They were not mindless.

I M not even going to talk about ___ ______, but they ran tactics and used cover and shot fire balls at you. ___ ______ was not mindless in combat what so ever.

I am not against the ability to make a über God. I am against being forced into making an über God. Sure I can not read the skill books and not take the better perks but that will only delay my characters ascension to über God Master of ALL! for only so long.

Populating the game world with Bullet Sponges does not make the game better, at least not for an RPG which Fallout New Vegas is. Giving enemies better weapons or adding new Robotic enemies maybe but not Super Ghouls and Overload Super mutants. Mutants in the West don't get bigger with age like the DC ones.

Still, my character will have maxed out skills and maxed or close to perfect special before I am even quarter through the game. I hate that.

Would you not get just as much of a rush/challenge fighting enemies that are stronger, smarter and better armed but not complete crap bullet sponges and not level?

The enemies would be harder to fight and kill. Making the cap higher to become über God Master of All, just makes you even to them and therefore not much of a challenge.

New Vegas does not have scaled enemies to do just that. To give you a challenge. Deathclaws and other creatures greater then your ability to kill. Becoming über God just takes that away, forcing the devs to add bigger enemies aka bigger bullet sponges.

I thought this was about a level cap raise not about favorite football teams. And i wouldnt go to an Alabama game cuz i get the crap beat out of me.
