On Lycanthropy

The book mentions that Werebears are the most common lycanthrope in Skyrim. I think it would be an interesting turn if Werebears were more prominent in the game, though I do hope werewolves are featured as well. I also hope to see Hircine, even if it's just a cameo in a dream explaining the 'naturally enchanted claws' thing. I found that to be very interesting and hope it's elaberated on more in the future.

Well, Hircine did grant the player stronger claws when the werewolf helped keep the Totem of Claw & Fang in it's place. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lSj6jrqbAo

There is an interesting location in skyrim called ''Black Moors'' for those who have watched ''An American werewolf in London'' you'll get the connection ;)
Yes, I saw that months ago. We may see werewolves there as a tribute to "The Wolfman(2010)" and "An American werewolf in London."

Only if there's a tavern called The Slaughtered Lamb.

But yea...from what we've heard so far, they haven't added lycanthropes. I hope it's just their typical Bethesda bluffing, otherwise I would be really disappointed. I mean, how do you ignore such prominent lore? I thought the Bloodmoon expansion was incredible, and adding werewolves really rounded out Morrowind. The fact that they weren't included in Oblivion (vanilla or otherwise) added to the laundry list of mistakes that were made with that game.

Skyrim NEEDS to have werewolves AND werebears. More than it needs dragons, I'd say. Leaving them out would be similar to leaving out the Nords themselves.

Bethesda confirmed, or atleast Todd Howard did, that they are experimenting with werewolves. Todd said they are big fans of it but its not the main thing. They said it will be in if they have roomand if it fits well in the game.

The http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Immortal_Blood book also give some interesting info about vampires. If they include them in Skyrim I hope they stik to this book and the Volkihar clan.

ouh my god THATS AN AMAZING LITTLE BOOK, I WISH there were hundred of pages of books like these.

Well, "experimenting" 9 months from release is a little late, don't ya think? Lycanthropy DOES fit in well within the game, better than any they've ever made, in fact. And there is room for them if they choose to make it.

I don't mean to come off as a jerk, but this is something I feel strongly about, as I think the inclusion of werewolves says a lot about the game, and Bethesda as a whole. Werewolves have proved to be popular with fans, and have a fairly large presence in earlier games, both as playable creatures and in lore.

So if Bethesda chooses to eliminate or neglect a feature which is both popular and part of the history of the series, what else is there to say?

Todd seems to feel that if they can't execute something perfectly, there's no point in doing it. That's what he said about mounts, not word for word though. Although, considering they've done werewolves in Bloodmoon (and did a helluva job at it, mind you) I don't see that it'd be too terribly difficult to migrate them to Skyrim's new system with a little tweaking.

Oh how I agree entirely with you. I just said what Todd said. He still kept us fans in the dark, but I still have high hopes.

Heck yeah, they don't even need it to be two guys and a girl ghost, it could be vice/versa.

svcks for the ghost, since he can't touch anything. Haha, eternal suffering.

I agree that that seems to be their sentiment, and I've heard fans say they same thing, which is stupid. TES is not the best at anything, really, other than making an open world RPG. Dozens of games have done combat/magic/stealth better. But none of them have combined them as well as ES has.

And yet, it's stuff like werewolves and mounted combat, which so few games touch on, that they could EASILY be the best. I'd have to say that I've never played a game that had lycanthropy as good as was in Bloodmoon, which I thought was brilliant, and the only one I can think of is Zelda Twilight Princess(?)
