It is mostly maltitol, which has a pronounced laxative effect. Basically, you are eating bear-shaped poop-generators

My philosophy is that if you're going to eat junk, then just eat junk made with real sugar, fat, and all that stuff. You're not doing your body any favors consuming "diet" junk food anyway, and you're taking a risk with all the chemicals they pump them full of to try and compensate for the inferior taste.

I remember when it was found that aspartame, a sugar substitute, was actually worse for you than sugar. Something about free radicals and cancer.

Not to mention that it may actually be worse for diabetics than real sugar.

I read a few of those Amazon reviews. They were quite detailed.

Meh, that's only if you have low willpower. The aspartame just makes you crave more and more instead of satisfying like real sugar would. So you keep eating and eating(or drinking and drinking), unable to satisfy your craving, or you go and eat the real stuff to end the craving, defeating the purpose of eating the fake stuff. If you have good willpower though, you can eat the sugar-free stuff and be just fine/content and not eat anymore. I should know, I'm a diabetic, I eat the sugar free crap, and I'm quite satisfied afterwards. I have never noticed(test 3 times a day) a spike in my blood sugar after eating sugar-free candies, nor have I gained any noticeable amount of weight(My weight regularly fluctuates between 190 and 200, though I usually hover around 193).

Also, once you get used to eating the sugar free stuff, your body adjusts and they stop acting as mini-laxatives.

A word of Advise:

Don't ever drink "Dieter's Tea." It will give you the Runs for the whole of the next two days, and when you are unable to crap out anything more, it will give you intestinal pain that only eating will ease, to which you will poop out within the hour due to the tea.

You have been warned.

If you want to feel your lower GI Tract Plumbing go into Hyper Drive, eat a bunch of sugar free candies. Alcohol Sugars digest in the lower intestine, but we don't have the proper bacteria to break them down, so you get some pretty nasty farts and bowel movements. It can be quite painful as the gases move through the intestine. Some people may have more tolerance than others, but even then, there is a limit before things get bad.

So, eat a couple of pieces, and you will be OK and the body can handle that. You will probably fart more after, but nothing explosive. But, they are sugar free and people tend to eat much more. It really does not take much more than a few gummy bears or a couple of sugar free chocolate candies to wish you never had.

I speak from unpleasant experience.

Hehe, it may be bad, but wait until you have your first colonoscopy and have to drink the crap they give you. The magnesium isn't bad, I've drank that before on my own when I was stopped up. The other stuff though...omg...it's the foulest drink you could really imagine, and wow...the amount and frequency of which you have bowel movements will astound you.
