should work, but you would probably be better off working with someone in light armor, just putting a second set of heavy armor on lydia hurts her capacity a bit, possibly more than you gain by enchanting it with carry capacity. Its a pity you cant enchant her 'default' steel armor though.

I was going to do that but at over 90 in enchartment and using a grand soul gem the extra points were negligible, a waraxe or 2 at best. Where as defensive and skill enchartments give a big boost.

After me and my companion are full I go back to the first chest/sack/body in the dungeon and unload into it, I repeat that whenever I need to. Then when the dungeon is cleared I fast travel between home and the dungeon until I've cleared all the loot home. I take home EVERYTHING that I can sell, fairly quickly and painlessly using that method. It was harder to do in Morrowind having only mark/recall but fast travel in Skyrim makes being a power looter a bit easier. There is no real need to use carry weight enchartments as they are no where near as powerful as the feather potions and magic in past ES games.

Would be nice to see how much weight any of the companions can carry though.

Her default carry weight is 300.

You can check it by using "getavinfo carryweight" command.

Thanks for that, but, still would be nice just to have it on shown as part of the trading screen.

I agree - I miss that from the Fallout games. Now you have to kind of guess when companions get close to their maximum carry weight.

Hopefully that gets addressed in one or more of the UI mods. :)

Hmm... I see now.. Looks like i soon will have to find someone with Light armor..

Another quick question! - Can mage companions put spells on me, like Stoneflesh, or Heal me etc?

GUYS! There is a bug with followers where they sometimes get NEW gear every time you ask them to re-follow you. My Lydia had 22, yes, 22 Hunting Bows in her invisible inventory. (Followers have a default set of gear that you cannot 'see'.) So, if you are noticing that her carry capacity is getting worse over time, it must be this bug.

On PC do this:

1. Use the ~ key to get the console
2. Click on Lydia
3. Use the command: showinventory

You will see a listing of everything she is carrying including her default inventory. Note how many Hunting Bows she has.

Check out this page (there are notes describing how to fix her):

But this way of forcing their inventories to overfill also leads to items disappearing, items being labelled as stolen, buff and enchantments to be removed. And not just on the items they are picking up, it happens to anything you've supplied them with such as shiny powerful weapons and armour etc. According to the wiki anyways.

Wow thanks for this as well! I was wondering why so many things were getting labeled as stolen (including some of the armor I crafted myself)

Also if you are on a horse, you can fast travel even if overencumbered, so that can save some trips too.

I sort of question if enchantments affect companions (they probably do but maybe I can't really tell). I put muffle on some glass boots for Aela but she still keeps getting seen by enemies (while we're both sneaking). I can't say it made any difference in her ability to not be found. Supposedly she specializes in sneak...

Lets hope the stuff you have her grab doesn't disappear.

Every time that I have done this with her, once she gets to her carry limit she won't "ready" her weapon anymore and is basically useless as anything other than a pack mule.
