Rumors don't spread fast when the people are either dead or cowering in their bunkers.

It seems apparent that by the time of New Vegas, the Mojave chapter hasn't heard about what's happened back East, and considering the radio silence they have with everyone else back West, it's more than likely they haven't either.

Well given that the Western BOS had pretty much cut of any further support to Lyons because he was breaking some of their most basic beliefs (recuiting outsiders and not removing tech from the locals), its unlikely that they were Impressed enough to send another expedition across the US to aid him in his expansion.......CWBOS like MWBOS before it are pretty much totally separate organisations now, with the majority of their membership not even having any ties to the Western BOS.

just saying it could happen. i mean not only did they defeat the super mutant but also cured the water. would this really be the craziest thing you have seen in fallout?

Considering the west coast branch are a severe group of shut-ins and the fact Lyons' boys are on a bunk assignment akin to exile, I honestly don't think Lyons has checked in with the west coast chapters.

'Curing the water' means zero to the Western BOS since they wouldn't have used the tech to provide clean water to the wasteland, tech is not wasted on the local savages.......defeating the Super Mutants? Well not really they never really finished off the Super Mutants and Western BOS usually uses it expeditions to get rid of reactionary groups within BOS who want to change the status quo.

The Western Brotherhood is dead.

The Outcasts mention in Fallout 3 that they haven't been able to re-establish radio contact back west yet, and in New Vegas the Mojave Chapter were on strict isolation after being forced out of HELIOS One.

Then there's the fact Lyons took the Maxson heir with him. That suggests to me that the Western Elders knew the storm was approaching, and partly sent Maxson with Lyons (Who was still in the Brotherhood's good graces at the time) as a preservative measure.

All that's left of the Western Brotherhood are a scattering of isolated bunkers with no central command structure and varying mission statements. Some, like the Mojave bunch, have gone strictly isolationist. Others likely will turn into nothing better then petty Raiders. Lyons Brotherhood is the future, Lyons and the Midwestern Branch.

Lyons didn't take Arthur with him, he was sent over later by his mother.

Lyons left for D.C. 20 years before the game began, Arthur is only like 10.

Was there ever any info as to how he got the east coast.......maybe he went by airship and then Lyons forgot about it during the BOS vs Enclave conflict. :D Or maybe the airship was kept secret as an escape route for Maxson if things totally went to hell.

No, nothing says how he got east, though it was likely just a heavily armed escort or something to that nature.

Ah, my mistake.

Still, the fact "The Maxson" was let out of a bunker and shipped across country doesn't bode for the fate of the Brotherhood in the West.

It is stated in game that they are all-but exiled from the western BOS, making it VERY unlikely either side has any intention of contacting each other, especially because the western chapter is so obsessed they refuse to change no matter what.

which saddens me, since Lyon's Chapter, and the Chicago chapter are my favorite :)

You're the one who said it was an 8 hour drive from Cali to DC.

At least, that's what it looks like you're saying there.

As other people have said the Brotherhood is dead or near dead in the West, and they have no radio contact with the West in Fallout 3 so they wouldn't be hearing about it. Also the Brotherhood would definitely not be impressed by Lyons, as he and his men went completely against what the Brotherhood considers it's ideals. They wouldn't be sending anyone East at all. It also doesn't take 8 hours to get from California to DC by car. 200 years after a nuclear war it's going to take upwards of several months by foot. The group in Boston it is going to be the Midwestern Brotherhood, a group that detached from either the MWBoS or CWBoS on their respective trips East, or Lyons Brotherhood if it's not 2277 and far enough in the future it makes sense for them to be there.

The Brotherhood of Steel in the West doesn't have vertibirds. If they did they would have been used against the NCR already, and since they are still losing horribly I doubt that if they ever did have one . If they did then they no longer have them. The Brotherhood in the East is in no position to be in Boston like that if it's right after Fallout 3, they don't even control all of the Capital Wastleland why would they be off attacking Boston? They aren't as obsessed about tech as the West, their primary goal would be establishing control in DC not flying up the coast for no reason. A scouting party would be small, whatever is in Boston isn't a scouting party.

Pretty sure the only group that has ANY flying vehicles left are the Enclave remnants, and i guess the boomers with the bomber.

The NCR has vertibirds and whatever Brotherhood group is in Boston does too. The CWBoS has at least one but if it's them in 4 they've gained many more.

NCR has like 5-6 Vertibirds at least.

The BoS captured at least one, likely more, from The Enclave at Adams Air force Base
