[Super WIP] Lyithdonea: The Azurian Isles

Post » Sat May 15, 2010 5:04 pm

Oh my god! Is that an actual, real, realistic cave!?!?!
The likes of which morrowind has never seen before?

I am going to try and incorporate a couple of these, where they fit. Possibly a sinkhole and an submarine/dry cavern. So I hope this one looks good!

Glad your back, this looks beautiful

Thanks! :hehe:

It always did bother me how Vvardenfell's cavern networks were always boarded up with doors. I mean, I understand why its done because of the engine limitations, but still... it always bugged me.

Well, I plan to add some more of similar cavern designs. Hope ya like'em!

Your account at TR, "Melchior Dahrk", still exists and is active. You used an aol email address with the account; if you can't remember it, I can tell you, or reset your password for you.

Also, we have one or two of those cool exterior tunnels in Sacred East, I'm glad to see others are brave enough to attempt them as well; they are really really cool if done correctly!

Ahhh, thank you haplo. I tried all the variations of my U/N except that  I now have access, thank you muchly! Now I am going to try and keep up with the TR news and make sure my mod doesn't conflict!

This is really looking sweet Melchior, glad to see that your back. If you need any testers just holler!

I will absolutely be needing some testing as soon as I get some more landscaping done! For some reason city building/architecture comes more naturally to my creativity. So to make landscaping more interesting I have tried to add some unique tidbits. Hopefully they'll show!

I am still working on this mod for sure, and I have more updates to post. However, I have just unexpectedly (long story) become a FATHER as of YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!! So I will be spending some time with my beautiful daughter for a while, but I'll be back with some updates, nice and juicy. Just wait!

I figure I'll post some more shots to document my progress for all of you.

http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/ScreenShot28-1.jpg - features a new shack model I slapped together in Nifskope :)

http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/ScreenShot31-2.jpg- Drakhis is the House Azuran City of the Dead. Since the old ways of Ancestor Veneration are still strongly practiced in the isles, and they will not use Necrom.

http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/ScreenShot9-3.jpg

http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/ScreenShot16-2.jpg - and strange creatures... that's a Kogona you see there. They're still a work in progress, since Morrowind is lacking in the lizard animations department <_<

Hope these are enough to tide over some curiosity.

If you mean where to host it, I recommend Fliggerty's site.
That's where I'll soon be hosting my walkthrough for the Sable Dragon, and he's awesome enough to give you full control over its creation.

So I would be able to simply post a link to them from here? Would people have to log into Fliggerty's site to view them?

They shouldn't have to. If its an open forum which if I'm not crazy it is, then there should be no problem.

Alright, I have resolved the issue. I just made a very https://sites.google.com/site/theazurianisles/home to host them on. So if anyone is interested in reading the lore I have created so far for Lyithdonea, you should follow the links on the previous page. Hope you all enjoy them, I have been having a lot of fun creating the lore!

Awesome work! Very original! I love the jungle setting...something that I've never really seen done for Morrowind before. I love the new creatures, especially the cephalapod, the bright bird (can't remember its name...reminds me of a phoenix), and the owlbear. Looks to be a completely new experience, but still feeling Tamriel-ish. My mage will be happy to have another new land to explore.

Thanks Cosmar :) I am still busily working on this mod, I want it to be detailed enough to avoid blandness, but not be too much of a frame hitter ;).

And I am very glad that you like the creatures so far! I have tried to create some to complement the scenery, since very few vanilla creatures will be seen in the isles. Possibly mudcrabs, since I plan on incorporating my Werecrab...

If anyone has more ideas on creatures/plants for the isles feel free to give me some ideas, after all one person's creativity can only extend so far! Thanks for any help.

Werecrab as in the Azurian Isles version of the Bloodmoon Werewolf? As in a new werecreature?

Yep, http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/Werecrab.jpg :)

If I find proper explanation, I might include some of my http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=944914&st=0&start=0

I have a scripting question, since I know there are a lot of skilled scripters in the community and I figure I should take advantage of that talent if you'll let me :)

I am planning on incorporating a Trolley Boat System, just a simple thing to cross a lagoon. Take a look at this http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/111.jpg

Here's what I would like...

The player walks up and activates the boat, screen dims, player is locked in boat and it travels a specified distance to the end of the dock. It must go in a straight line to stay on the rope, but it is at a 45degree angle. So I don't know if it is possible. The boat/rope/attacher are all one mesh. When the player reaches the other side the, controls will be enabled and the player can hop out. When the boat is reactivated, the screen will dim and the boat will reverse directions and the same process will be repeated indefinitely.

I would give the file to someone to possibly work on this for me, but I am still sorting out my resources and I have about 60mb of files right now :P

If anyone has any ideas on a script to use for this, please post it here. I would appreciate the help! Hopefully I will be able to include some other cool scripted occurences like this in the Isles. But I will certainly be needing some help.

If I remember hearing this correctly then madMax's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1431 has a scripted row boat ride that takes the player along in a similar manner to what you describe. Might be worth a look. Also, again if my shaky memory holds, Princess Stomper's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4095 has similar "rides."

Perhaps looking at the scripts in these two mods will give you an idea of how to do this...

Hmm, I do remember some rides like that in ME, I'll take a look and see if I can figure anything out. Thanks Dragon32 ;)

Here's a small update, just to show some of what I'm still working on.

I have created this armor type for the Ouakam Tong: http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/cephalapodarmor.jpg

I appreciate any constructive criticism for my meshes or worldbuilding. And any ideas on cool things to be included in the isles is greatly appreciated!! Ideas, anyone :deal:

I might suggest a bit more texture/model variety in your armor.
As of now it looks just like a bunch of helms plastered on the character.. but it looks pretty good.
Nice work so far!

Though the texture is a little repetitive, I rather like it -- it's like you gutted out a cephalapod and nestled yourself inside =)

The problem with cephalapods is the fact that there isn't much to wear on them OTHER than the head. However, I agree that the texture is a tad repetitive, and let me see what I can do about other meshes for the armor. I am going to try and alter the texture on some of the "heads" to be plainer (no 'eye' areas)

Thanks for the comments and criticism! I may show some of the work I have been doing on a set of Meteoric Iron Armor soon. Azura is the Mother of the Night Sky, so I don't see why she couldn't be associated with stars, and hence falling stars, and hence meteoric iron/glass.

Melchior, I`m simply stunned by all the effort you put into this.
Seriously you should ask Bethesda for permission to sell your creation for a few bucks per download, once it?s finished.

I personally would love to play it as soon as possible and once again could kill myself for buying the german version the time Morrowind came out.
So few great mods have been translated.

After seeing your WIP, and of course mods like TR, maybe I buy an english Morrowind just for the mods. ;)

Wow, nice to see some awesome projects with your own lore and terrain, it's been awhile since I saw really great landscaping work.

I really like how you used your imagination for making http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/Lyithdonea/Title8.jpg ! I also like the cave, I made something similar tho mine was much darker and had some lava vents, so not quite the same style. I like your way much better tho, great work! I think lots of locations will be breath taking in game, keep up.

Also, I REALLY adore some of your creatures (am using your old resources myself), and I think it would scare the hell out of me too see Cephalapod in some dark underwater dump. :bolt:

And one more thing, where did you get Scribtail from? Or did you made it yourself? If it's a resource could you let me know where to get it please, it would be a unique touch for one of my own locations. Thanks :)

Keep up the good work, and let as see some more pictures so we can drool more. :hehe:

edit: wrong insert and typos :embarrass:

I think it looks great! Mesh wise at least. The head parts (plates) could stay purple but there really isn't any reason to keep the other parts (skin tight parts) purple since they obviously were made from the head. They could be a simple leather from another creature. Also nothing really has to be purple either, armour can be painted any colour right? If you go this route those just be careful because you still want it to look like cephalapod armour. Again though I think the mesh itself is great! Would add gloves to the hands though ...but thats just me.

edit: for the record I have no idea what an actual cephalapod looks like (does anybody?) I just assumed the helm was its whole body and it had centipede like legs coming out all ends of it, like a basic bug (or a crayfish?).
