[WIPz] M40A3 Sniper Rifle

Post » Fri Mar 11, 2011 7:43 pm

it is. aslo, what ammo is it going to be using? .308?

Of course, that's what the real rifle uses, so there will be no need for a CALIBR plug-in this time around.

Well, the model is done!

probably too late now, but the new m40a3 has been chambered for the 6.7 Lappua round, not the .308 winchester. looks good though. you should make a rifle bag to go with it, like in jarhead. just use the vanilla rifle holstering animations, just make an new backpack model. Probably still needs a bipod and a thing to hold rounds on the stock.

Not too late really. However http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M40A3 says it's chambered in 7.62x51 (.308) so I'm just going to stick with that.

your thinking Army M24 long action. The chamber is enlarged to fit full length cartridges like the Springfield 30/06 and other biggies, including the .338 Lappua (we don't use metric when referring to Lappua rounds, its tradition so dont monkey with it)
Us "Jarheads" (know why we're called that? Kudos if you do) utilize the short action rifle that is good for 7.62NATO (here we use metric) and .308 Winchester (again, no metric ever won the west)

Because their uniform fatigue hats are in the shape of a jar? Or their haircut?

Close.. half a kudo to ya :goodjob:
We wear our caps tight. And completely straight along the head, so when we take 'em off you see this nice red rim going around our gourds > jarheads
Navy squids are under the impression that we were them sooo tight that it constrains the blood flow to the brain. Hence we're dumb enough to assault enemy beaches.
This is untrue.

We just happen to like assaulting enemy beaches, is all :D

It does......You try running a vessel with all you hooligans around! And then we have to take care of the newbies hitting the kneeknockers! Although, that is does make good scuttlebutt.

Okay, so I've run into a little issue. All the parts I replaced in NifSkope (the body, the trigger, the bolt, and the mag) all came in fine and even align great. However, the two data blocks I did add (the scope and the scope lens) didn't show up in game or in the GECK. I changed the names of the string to say "ScopeBody" and "ScopeLens" respectively, but I think that may have messed it up. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

*Shin Splitters*. Jeez, when they scuttlebutt gets so thin y'all have to resort to temporary crippled leathernecks for laughs..
Yeah, I can see that happening.
I once caught my foot during a general quarters drill. Pancaked so hard they said they heard it clear on the bridge, nearly broke my arms catching my fall :P

on topic, finally:
good to hear.. I'm really looking forward to it, zealotlee :goodjob:

 This one made me cry

Ah man, this is hilarious. It's also funny when some young dirtball gets to stand guard at the quarterdeck during liberty because he pushed his bunkmate over one. Yeah, we don't get too many of those-and even less repeat offenders ;)

Ah time to clear the head, Seaman Mike Foxtrot.....:)
