[WIPz] M40A3 Sniper Rifle

Lately I've started to work a lot more on http://www.randbrifles.com/6b.jpg It was a request by CSKrypt for his mod "The 2112" (Formerly The Wasteland Marksmen). His thread is http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=963694. This will be an independent release by me when it is done, but it was mainly made for his mod. Anyway, here's some WIP screenshots:

The scope will be the last thing I model. Instead of attaching the scope to the body I planned to make it a seperate object with it's own texture so I could re-use it as a generic scope for other rifles if need be. As far as the texture goes, I will most likely go with the stock "green" look, as seen http://www.dogfightink.com/m40.jpg. Different color variations are always an option however.

Sorry Echo, but that isn't a M40. Besides, I made a lot of progress and I'm not gonna give up on it now just because Project Valhalla made something SIMILAR to it a long time ago :).

In any case, people release weapon mods done already all the time. Sometimes they are better than the existing ones. Sometimes they are worse.

I did some more work on the bolt itself today, next stop is the rear of the gun (stock, grip, etc).

I know it might be some time ahead, but do you think you could add camo to it? like in CoD 4 MW, in the mission "All Ghillied Up" http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/Callofduty/images//5/50/All_Ghillied_Up.jpeg (Bad Screen, I know). By camo I mean the stringy-stuff, and maybe a cool silencer? ^_^ I love sneaky-stealthy-camo'ish-silenced stuff :P

Maybe, I'll see about that. A silenced version can be done easily so that won't be a problem.

I've fixed a lot of the smoothing groups in the back as well as adding some more polys to define it. For the most part the rifle itself is done, now I just need to make the scope.

Are you going to make it use the hunting rifle reload animation? Because there are basically no mods to utilize that bolt animation.

What do you mean? It should be the same as any other weapon I've imported really. The bolt is a separate object so it should be able to match up with the hunting rifle no problem. Also the SAKO-TRG rifle uses the hunting rifle animations just fine.

Just gimmi a scope, 1 klik of open ground with low crosswinds and an even humidity and I can reach out and touch anyone.

I've actually been waiting on your opinion the most, Andy, haha. Good to know it looks accurate so far to someone who most likely actually used a real one :).
