Also, here's the backstory I've come up with, basically combining both games and their stories, but if you want to be surprised as you go along, then don't click.
Spoiler
The current planet is Earth, and the year is 2010. Half of humanity is underground. The problem is, humans aren't the only thing underground. Below the surface is a network of denizens and locust caverns. Almost every reachable cave has an even deeper underground. The central area of the Locust threat is actually under Vault 18, where Vault-Tec attempted to create killing machines via F.E.V. Unfortunately, the experiments went incredibly wrong, and from the Vault, the mutants only went deeper. Originally they were greenish and quite large, but as evolution took its place, they began to change into graying, fleshy monstrosity's.
Now, the year is 2277, and the Locust aren't happy. The war with China has ended in peace treaty, and all nuclear bombs have been stored for a later date, but not destroyed. You see America are sneaky bastards, they weren't willing to turn their back on any country, no matter how must trust was feigned on paper. But then again, thats human nature. Meanwhile, underground, the remnants of the F.E.V. has now formed its own civilization, and is ready to attack. The first sightings were in D.C., close to where it all started. In retaliation, the Brotherhood of Gears, or BOG, were formed. A war broke out between all of humanity and all of the mutants, who called themselves the Crogan. Eventually President of America, Matthew Eden sat down with John Fenix (Vice President), Adam Lyons (BOG Founder and leader/Secretary of Defense), Juan Jingwei (Emperor of China) and the rest of the world's ambassadors, and declared nuclear fallout, in which they would pull out all of their dusty warheads, and dropped them on themselves.
From then, war and chaos ensued. From the ashen tattered remains of the world, humanity tried to fight the rest of the Crogan off. Vault-Tec made one last vault, which they built directly under Washington, and that vault was called J4C-NT0, otherwise known as Jacinto. The only problem was, they weren't the only ones underground...

Mad World
PROLOGUE
The room was silent.
What was there to say? No one could speak. They were all paralyzed by the overwhelming magnitude of the decision that had just been made. The decision that would destroy the world. It wasn't any one man's fault. It was their collective ultimatum, which is why on that day, no man was happy.
Finally, Matthew Eden, the president of the United States of America, spoke. His voice trembled as he spoke.
"So it is final. In one weeks time, all nuclear warheads will be unleashed and the world will burn."
At this he stopped, taking in the heavy burden of the world's destruction. Once he fond his voice, he continued.
"As far as we know, the "Crogan" infection is world-wide. They are everywhere. The best plan of action possible is the eradication of all life above ground. After which time, only D.C. will remain standing."
This was the moment where the most righteous of men would stand up from their seats, demanding veto. He would [censored] about how he had a son in Florida, or a sister in Ohio, and how he couldn't let this happen. How he couldn't just stand by and watch as the world decimated itsself.
But there was no hero here, only pigs and cowards in suits, who for the first time in their lives, would really have blood on their hands. It as a hard choice between killing their nation before they could. Yeah, humanity wanted bragging rights.
Nobody blamed the president, it was his decision after all, and when that lone tear streaked down his face and onto the laminated upholstery, no one spoke.
"This meeting is adjourned. The next meeting is October 23, 2077, where we will . . . I will end it all."
All the men rose from their chairs and shook hands with the president, except for Jingwei who just walked out, then left, leaving him and his burden alone.
"What have I done?"
He asked to no one, but then again, no one answered.
CHAPTER I
Brian awoke to the sound of alarm. Quickly he sprung from bed, collecting his rifle as he left the door out into the main hall. He looked both ways, he was still adjusting to the new vault, before last week he'd been living above ground all his life. As he ran through corridor to corridor, he met up with members of his crew, who were also jogging with him to the Mess Hall, where they would be briefed. No one spoke to Brian, nor did Brian speak to them. He was the rookie.
They'd made it through the double doors. In front of them were the rest of their platoon, all standing restless as Lyons debriefed them. Brian was nervous, per usual.
"Listen up you lally-gagging pu*sy farts, had this bed D-Day, you would have all been dead! I suggest you get your feet out your a**es before I rip you a new one! Today is October 20, 2077, and I have three more days to turn you b*tches into men! Today will be more arduous than the last, and one of you will crack, but its not my f*cking job to play around. My job is to train you, and prepare your for a f*ckload of chaos. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes sir!"
Their voices echoed throughout the small room, then they were dismissed for breakfast. Brian had a long day ahead of him.

Since this story is so difficult, I need some advice about what you guys want to read. Should it be first person? Should I skip to D-Day? Should I have the lancer, or should I even do training? Anything you have fore me, please write it, because this is my biggest challenge yet.
