Madd Leveler incompatibilities

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:41 pm

I have been considering using Madd Leveler rather than GCD which is what I have been using. From what I have read, it will suit my play style well. However, as I was reading comments in the PES upload section, I noticed this:
WARNING!!! This Mod does not work if the Morrowind Master File has been altered by any mod such as Morrowind Advanced.

I don't know how true this is, and I don't want to get rid of MW Advanced. I looked through mlox_base and didn't spot MW Advanced or any other incompatibilities that I would have. However, I am not convinced. So here is my load order:

I will remove GCD and its plugins if I use Madd Leveler so you can ignore those.

So do you think I will be fine?

EDIT: I am also considering http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7429, which seems even less intrusive.

To be honest I'm not sure what that means as Morrowind Advanced doesn't alter Morrowind.esm; rather, as any plugin does, it overrides some of the values within it.

mlox's section on Madd Leveller is pretty comprehensive. If you're feeling cautious try a new character and level up a few times and see if anything breaks. :ahhh:

The only Madd Leveler incompatibility I know of is with Morrowind Code Patch. There is a serious problem with fortifies and absorptions that screws up Bretons and sometimes Atronachs. It is not constant but will appear eventually and for that reason I have switched to GCD entirely. Too bad, really, I used Madd for years but I'd rather lose that than MCP.

MCP does modify the morrowind exe if that's what the warning you read meant.

BTW: If your play style is more hybrid type (maybe that's what your suggesting?), you can make GCD less sensitive to major/minor/misc skill balance by raising the skill influence offset. You can actually make it like an automated vanilla (almost) if you tweak it properly.

Yeah, I was reading the thread about the spell absorption issue, and I decided not to use Madd, as I am playing a Breton. I am not using GCD, because it wasn't behaving properly (getting some script errors and Magicka wasn't regenerating).

Luckily, I have found that Linora's mod is the perfect solution for me. The only reason that I wanted a leveling mod was because I didn't want to have to (or be tempted to) min/max my skills. This mod accomplished that and without using any scripts. :)

Could one of you two point me to this thread that documents that MCP-Madd Leveller issue? It might be worth a Note rule in mlox...

A weird thing I have with MADD leveler is that if I sleep anywhere, the levelup-screen appears with +1 attribute increase for any attribute apart from Luck.
That means I can't sleep anymore.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Never heard of that one. Are you running MCP? The most common problems are either not getting any attribute increases at all or getting 1 for every skill increase (but not necessarily the related attribute).

Yes. I'm running mcp.
It's not too much of problem, because I can always teleport somewhere, where sleeping is illegal and so I just wait.
The thing is my level counter doesn't rise whereas my attributes still keep rising.
This happens when I rest:http://img6.imagebanana.com/img/698j7wec/Morrowind.exe0113052.png
And this when I rest again:http://img6.imagebanana.com/img/njidnq7b/Morrowind.exe0113147.png
Actually there shouldn't be any lvlup-screen at all, should it?

Unfortunately, this looks like another manifestation of the same bug. I don't think there's a way to fix it so you may want to consider unchecking ML and reverting to vanilla. At level 37, this shouldn't be much of a problem. In my game, I converted to GCD but that might not be to your taste.

I don't know, apart from that everything works (yet). As I'm neither Breton nor Atronach, I stay with it....for now. :unsure2:
