I've made a conclusion...

Post » Tue May 07, 2013 3:05 pm

It's DawnGuard that's the problem with lag. My old 11 MB save jumped from that to 15 MB with all three DLC. I did all the quests and LAG, LAG, CRASH. So I made a totally new fresh guy(reinstalled everything), everything was fine until 8 MB, lag, lag, no crash, but lag. Reinstalled everything and deleted that chracter, but I didn't install Dawnguard....my file is 11 MB and really smooth, only a few quest bugs, gonna make a fresh install for a new guy after 1.9... Let's how that goes with no Dawnguard.

Bye Serana, Crossbows, armoured trolls..... WHYYYYYYY

My savefile started jumping with Dragonborn, there was the occasional lag, but nothing serious. Hearthfire, nothing serious. I only built one house.

I think Dawnguard was the problem. It got me up to 18MB. There is a reason it was introduced last. I can't go over 2 hours before the framerate goes down to 10.

I really don't want to uninstall Dawnguard. I like my Dwarven crossbow and Dawnguard armor but the stuttering is pissing me off.

I think Ill wait to see if the memory improvements in 1.9 changes anything before removing the DLCs and just reinstalling Dragonborn and Hearthfire. Another performance patch is in order if they plan on releasing Redguard any time soon.

Actually, I'll start an new chracter with 1.9 and all DLC. If its ok at 10 MB, keep on going, if not, I guess it only HF and DB.

I have all three DLCs down loaded and I crash when it like a crud ton of legendary dragons show up out of no where... turning autosave off helps.

If 1.9 changes nothing then Ill uninstall DG and post back here if his claim is legit. My save file is 17MB by the way. I like Dawnguard but i hate the stuttering so i hope it's not at fault, I hope none of the DLCs are at fault. I don't know if Bethesda took huge game saves into account with 1.8 and DLC. I'm sure it run better than it would without the patch but still.. i hate the stuttering so much, It ruins the role play experience.

I uninstalled all three. After re-downloading 1.08 the game once again ran like a dream. I reinstalled DB and the game still ran like a dream. I'm going to redownload DG now and skip Hearthfire and Ill report back here with my findings. They put alot of work in DG which makes me think HF may be the root of the problems.

I'm beginning to agree with this DG line of thinking.

I'm almost getting pre-1.4 performance out of my games now with DG.

It is a little better because the FPS hits seem to subside without a reboot but I've had a lot of lockups and stuttering with DG.

Ok first how old is your PS3? If its past its warrantee then I would recommend getting a computer cleaning kit and find how to open your PS3 up. Once you done that clean out the dam thing. Don’t unplug or remove anything just clean it until the insides look brand new. Put it back together.
Next delete all Skyrim User Data including patch data. Once done go for a fresh reinstall.
1st put your disk in and let it run when prompted to update don’t.
Once done quit the game and pull the disk out.
Once out wait 3sec and then put it back in.
Then wait and then when prompted update Skyrim.
Once done quit the game.
Go to game store and redownload DLC's
yet do one at a time do not click to download all three at the same time.
First Download Heathfire and when done put the disk in and when the main menu comes up check to see if Heathfire is in Extra content area in the main menu area. If so then quit the game and go back to the game store. Next download DG and do the same as Heathfire steps. Once done with that then download DB and once you checked the main menu to see if its listed, then and only then start your game.
Now about the lag. Sometimes I get it sometime I don’t. I find two different methods for solving this.
1. wait 72 days in game and then go. If that did not solve the issue then off to step 2.
2. Save and quit the game. Once out restart the game.
If for some reason even after doing step 1 and 2 and I still have lag when starting out then I will quit the game and turn of my PS3. Wait 5 minutes and then start it back up. Normally I don’t have to do that, except on rare occasions.

Opening my PS3 Isn't an option. My disc drive has enough issues as is seeing as I'm one of the "lucky" ones who have the issues with the bluray drive on the slim model. I will however try the rest of these steps.

I kind of lost the point of this thread but to the OP: I already played all of the DLC on the Xbox, in the original order. DG was the buggiest of all the DLC. I started getting worse than PS3 lag and drop in graphical quality. I quit, until Dragonborn. I also got Hearthfire. I had virtually no problems with the second and third DLC, but the bugs with DG continue.

On my PS3 game I bought all the DLC. I built 3 mansions and they are all fine. I'm halfway through DG with no new glitches. Almost no lag even though a year ago there was bad lag for that game. I think the 1.8 patch really helped the PS3 side. But yes, the DG is the buggiest which I warned about back in January? when the DLC was announced.

I don't want to get NKVDed for discussing this here but, why would you?

Miss game events, miss half of the online experience. It takes away most of the edge.
