I've made a decision

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 1:13 am

So after storming some bandit ridden fort in the middle of no where, I saw another procession of people that had one of my Nord brothers in bondage. The others didn't look like Nords....hmmm.
Spoiler

After questioning the first person in line, who was wearing robes so probably was a mage, I was accused of worshiping Talos. All I did was ask questions then stood silent and he said, "You're a heretic and will die like a hieratic".

It was completely unfair as all I was doing was asking questions. Before he died, he also said something like, "You've been marked" or something - I really don't know and really don't care. I was simply wanting information so I could determine my path in life.

Bad thing was, this guy talked about some group who were "The true rulers of Skyrim" - but I don't have any idea what he's talking about.

Then I went to WhiteRun and talked to the guy that's screaming about something in front of a statue. He told me about Talos and how he used his voice to unite the Nords. The guy he was describing sounded a lot like me or one of my kin.

Therefore as a full-blood Nord I have decided that I will no longer watch as my fellow Nord brothers and sisters are escorted off in bondage. I will free them all regardless of the captors or the consequences.

This is the only warning I will provide. :)

Thalamor huh?

I have no idea who they are or what they're doing but they'll be short lived around me from now on.

I'm not sure if they're the same ones that arrested me and put me into that wagon and I really don't care. I don't like people that won't answer questions then try to accuse me of untruths then attack me without cause. It was their last mistake but it sealed the decision in my mind.

The guy I freed mentioned someone named Stormcloak or something. I can't really remember because I was too upset from being wrongly accused and set upon by 3 strangers.

Ulfric Stormcloak. Jarl of Windhelm and leader of the Stormcloak rebellion. He has no love for the Thalmor and wants them and the legion out of skyrim. Sounds like your kind of guy.

First thing I do when I see a Thalmor patrol with a prisoner is free the prisoner... no conversation... just lots of Elf killing.

It's a shame that giving the prisoner equipment doesn't actually do anything.

usually when there is a thalmor patrol near whiterun there is often a dragon nearby as well. When i am lower level I will lead the dragon to the thalmor, let them fight it out and then mop up whatever is left.

The Thalmor are a bunch of arrogant elf morons that almost crushed the Empire and in the treay made it illegal to Worship Talos. The stormcloaks say screw this and pretty much openly want to destroy the Thalmor and make Skyrim an independent nation.

Cool thanks. I'm going to seek this guy out and maybe learn some more about what's going on in Skyrim.

My current protagonist is also on way to Windhelm to join Stormcloaks, maybe we meet on the way and drink some mead together. :foodndrink:

BTW, you'll be seeing a lot of Thalmor in the game, there's also one of the main quests involved with them.

Yeah that may very well turn into my MO also. However, I believe in giving people the ability to recognize their errors and correct them before making the correction myself. However, my tolerance may not last.
RE: Equipment, yeah I agree. It would be nice if they used it.

Hmmmm. I didn't see one but good to know. Thanks!

Yeah you know this guy was VERY arrogant. Then he threatened me, then he wrongly accused me and then attacked me. I couldn't believe it.

That elf in the Dragonhall seem kind of arrogant also. Hmmm.

Yeah she is kind of a cranky lady, just make sure not to become what you despise. Dont prejudge all elves on the actions of a few, I have met some very honorable ones before.

Yea, we're not all bad. I, an Altmer, helped the Stormcloaks, so please don't kill me if you encounter me in the wilds.

Not that you'd stand a chance against my fire spells anyway.

For helping the Stormcloaks you have my deference but don't get cocky.

As a Nord, I prefer to test you with a brawl then decide.

I am playing a Redguard siding with the Imperials to crush the Rebellion. Its this Civil War Ulfric Stormcloak started that lead to the return of the Dragons, pitting brother against brother caused Alduin to return. So basically the Chaos we have to clean up is Ulfric's fault lol.

But personally I ran into a glitch I didnt like on my first char and choose to start over, that char was a Mage that sided with Stormcloaks because all in all I do think the Nords deserve independence. The Empire isnt the same Empire my Oblivion character saved from the Oblivion Crisis. I just decided to see the difference in the Civil War side for Imperials for my Redguard lol.

Says you. How do you know that's not just a clever fabrication created to take Skyrim away from the Nords?

Well you made a nice case for it. Who knows, I might just use that. :)

I'm not really into all the lore of the land so I have no idea if what you said is correct. Kinda making this up as I go along. The incident I described in my original post actually happened and clarified the whole civil war for me. Before that, I was completely neutral and didn't really understand the differences in the choices I was making.

It's kinda nice to have a reason to choose a side in the war.

I have no idea what those are. I'm assuming that's the war between the Imperials and the Stormcloaks?

Probably referring to the Forsworn snatching Markarth from the Nords for a brief period while they were busy elsewhere. Until Ulfric and his militia came along and politely kicked them back out.

ok you need to start paying attention and [censored] caring. No they did not arrest you, the empire did. but that was just a minor and near fatal misunderstanding. the imperial generqal is cool as heck. TULLIUS!!!

the empire is imperial, and though they hate the thalmor with an undying passion, they were forced to sign a treaty.

the thalmor are racist nazi elves that sadly have taken over the government of the summerset isles and some other areas. they are currently the strongest empire.

the stormcloaks are cool for like 10 minutes until you find out how they are totally racist. oh look, peaceful citizens being killed by bandits? stormcloaks don't care unless you are nord.

there is NO GOOD GUY. the empire, which historically was pretty decent for a empire, is really weak. ulfric, who once murdered people BECAUSE they tried to split from empire (markath) now....is doing the same. oh and a book in the game says he tortured nord women and killed nord men after a peaceful surrender.

just FYI.

in summary, kill all thalmor you can possible get away wth (some in towns will get you bounty). pick the rascist loser team of stormcloaks whose rebellion if successful would do the thalmor favors...yep the thalmor like the stormcloak rebellion! or pick the empire, who is the thalmor's [censored].

the markath wars were when the reachman did exactly what ulfric is doing--seceed. they peacefully did so for 2 years, then ulfric came, kicked their butt. they surrendered, and he [censored] went on a murder spree that so angered the reachman they became the forsworn.
