A lot of the names aren't confirmed yet, but the city placement is correct.

Disclaimer: This is a fan-made map, not an official release from Bethesda. Therefore many details are speculative and unconfirmed.

They confirmed that the civi war will be a war betwen the empire and revels? :sadvaultboy: I was hoping a war betwen five or more factions.

Saying Solitude and Windhelm are the capitals of both sides is incorrect. All we know is that on the map Solitude had "Empire" written next to it and Windhelm had "Rebel" written next to it. The fact that the other cities didn't have anything written next to them means nothing other than that we don't know where their allegiance lies yet.

Other than that it's a good map.

I seriously doubt Bethesda just randomly picked two cities. These two seem to have great importance.

I think it is a good assumption though, Solitude and Windhelm are both economic capitals of Skyrim, and are the largest and most powerful.

"Assumption" is the key word here. By making assumptions on your map and not placing a warning, you're spreading false information. Spreading false information in the form of "assumptions" seems to admittedly be very popular among users in this forum (like how people assuming the map will be smaller than Oblivion because Bethesda said "comparable in size" instead of "bigger" are telling people it'll be smaller as if it's a fact), and if you want to contribute to this trend then by all means do so. However if you want to make an accurate map that only gives facts OR gives a warning that you're making an assumption with something (educated guesses are often necessary after all), your map will be that much more professional. I can guarantee you that there will be someone who views your map, sees that they're the capitals of the two factions, and assumes this is a cold hard fact, when it's absolutely not. If you're perfectly fine with this, then disregard my complaint.

How did you come up with the rebel vs. Imperial labels? FYI, Windhelm is the only one confirmed to belong to a faction so far, and it the pro-Imperial capital, home to a puppet leader propped up by the Imperials (confirmed from one of the various sources so far, forgot which). Also, Solitude is likely to be "rebel" or anti-imperial, because in one article it says they "burn an effigy of the king" there every night at the college in town... and the king is supported by the imperials.

I'm gonna go back and check again though...

Very nice map

I do agree with xXAntibodyXx though. In my opinion it would be better to only state hard facts or to at least let people know it is an assumption.

Yeah, the map is good, I just dont know about the labels yet.

Besides, I dont know if you can make aby huge assumptions from those two notes in the video map. It seems to go against TES lore that Windhelm (the strongest and largest city) would be a rebel city. If the rebels control the largest city, doesnt that mean they're no longer the underdog (which I assume they would be)? Windhelm was the western gateway to Morrowind for the Imperials, and held a major Imperial garrison. Solitude was never a major imperial base, as far as I know.

I found it, I think this is from OXM coverage, I forgot:

? In the northern parts of Solitude is the Bard's College. The city is a busy port and there's event similar to bonfire night that has the burning of an effigy of King Olaf.
? Windhelm is the largest city. It has a palace that should look spectacular. This is also apparently the hangout for the Imperial Guards who monitor the path to Morrowind.

Sure. Don't believe a map that is located inside Bethesda Game Studios. The game also takes place 200 years after Oblivion so a lot of changes can take effect.

They're offering constructive criticism that is well placed and well founded. They're not trying to start a flame war, they're offering suggestions on how it can be improved. If they got a little snarky, it was because the tc came out with inflammatory remarks first. You're seeing a conflict where there isn't one, or at least misinterpreting what's there.

This really needs to be cleared up by Bethesda themselves, so until then, my map will remain unchanged.

Also the fact that you can see an Imperial legion guard patroling around Solitude in the trailer confirms my theory.

Antibody still had a good point about you taking some liberties though. You don't have enough information to conclude without a doubt that these are the 'capitals,' of these factions in the civil war. It could mean anything from a list of possibilities. A disclaimer wouldn't hurt at all.

It's really not an assumption. From all the evidence we have had such as the map from the "Making of Skyrim" videos and other information given from other sources, it's all but confirmed that they are the "capitals" of the rebellion and the loyalists. They need leadership on both sides and two of the major cities would be the best place.

I'm surprised that the "capitols" were the issues with the map since the "capitals" seem pretty much confirmed. The problem I saw was the "minor hold cities" and others shown, since we can't really tell what is which. I know we know some like Dawnstar and Falkreath but there are several that we've not seen before and such that would be better labeled as "minor cities" but this map isn't official and no one should hold it to the standards of being official. It was just nice being able to see the names of villages/cities that we didn't already know.

I've added a little disclaimer to the topic title and opening post of this thread. I think everyone so far understands that this is the work of a fan, based off of his interpretation of existing evidence. But at the very least so that everyone is on the same page, and can stop talking about whether or not it needs one - I've added one myself.

Carry on. ;)

It's like criticizing fan art for making a Dunmer's skin color too blue.

I find it sad that a mod must add more disclaimers when my original post already had them.
