GI Mag Info

Post » Sun Jun 13, 2010 8:56 am

I've got the scans now, it's all true.

The graphics are good but not a huge leap from FallOut.

You can fire single magic in one hand or if you have both hands free, you can combine the spells to be more devestating.

Backpedalling has been slowed down, so you can't do the old exploit of hit then backpedal, then come in and hit again. That's good news, I have a mod for Oblivion that does that already.

Is the player in water in the one pic where he is decked out in sweet armor and has a sword in one hand and axe in the other?

I must ask why are people mad about 18 skills? All theyve done is remove more of the useless skills like mysticism!

With 18 skills only(WTF) it's pretty much safe to say, the spears will still be gone.

Arghhh my beloved spears  (if that is the case about spears)

Also no more zoom in while talking to people, they will do tasks, look away, ect while your talking to them.

Interesting. I'm reading something that suggests randomly generated quests.

- Supposedly huge draw distances
- Snow that actually acts like particles (not solely textures on objects)
- Various and diverse environment types

Just wish they actually showed some of these features instead of telling us about them. Such a tease you are Bethesda. Such a tease.

this new DW system allows people to make TRUE spellswords, nightblades, shamans and other hybrids in terms of combat.

How in any logical way can you bash it?

Picking major, minor, or misc skills is now out. Apparently, you just use what you want and level up accordingly.

I'm am VERY pleased with this. Others, I believe Shades included, wished that as you used your skills your attributes would raise accordingly. I am not sure if attributes are still part of the game (they better be), but it seems that as you level you will raise in health and then additionally decide if you want to raise health, stamina, or magicka.

The idea behind this is that players can not possibly get a good idea of what skills are good for them within the first hour of the game, so it was ridiculous to ask a player to pick skills.

Very quick read...

Almost no info at all on RPG aspects, almost as if they don't exist.

Lots on info on combat.

Paraphrase: The main thing that separates this game from its predecessors is... Dragons ??!!... Looks to be written by a 14 year old on a sugar overdose.... no offence intended to any actual 14 year olds

I got the same impression. Typical of GameInformer imo. When can we expect Bethesda devs to talk more about aspects of the game that aren't combat/graphics related?

At page 56, "Here there be dragons" it looks like a gun in his hand :shakehead:

That is obviously an axe. You must be looking at some real grainy scans. C'mon guys, there are no guns.

Can anyone confirm info on level scaling, besides the info on quest scaling?

I think slowing down your backpedal speed was the worst way of fixing that problem, personally. Why not just make it drain stamina (glad they are calling it that now) extremely quickly so you can't just do it for so long?

Radiant quests? Like radiant AI?

So we're reverting back to daggerfall quests with a bit more of a personalization to it? Sweet!!
