Mage Equipment 2

I have your mod setup in bashed patched has filter/graphics to import your robes without actually needing to load your mod per say..

Just thought I would post in case that is useful for other's..

Do you have any more plans to expand the mod further or tweak the leveledlist for non Frans / OOO user's..

Corepc

Hi Corepc, I have all FCOM installed, and looking Mage Equipment with TES4Files it have great conflicts with OOO and FCOM. And I only want to apply the graphics change, no new enchants, etc.

So what you recommend me to do?

What Tags I need to add in Wrye?

Load the esp file after Oscuro Oblivion Overhaull.esp and before FCOM_Convergence.esp?

THANKS!

I've used this in the past but had removed it as I had some issues that disturbed me. One of these is just a pet peeve of mine and that's some of the names on the weapons were misspelled plus the fact that I was never able to merge it smoothly with MMM meant I had a lot of gear just left laying around on bodies. The other is that no matter what I did I never got the new Mannimarco robe. Ever. Drove me nuts. I know its an issue with the leveled lists but no idea how to fix it at the time. Also, for those of us past this stage now is there a way to console in the Mannimarco items?

I am working on and update version of Mage Equipment 2 to get to work better with mods by the way.

For now you will need to use Wrye Bash, to resolve compatiblity problem with using this with other mods.

tag Mage Equipment

invent/filter/graphics

that will pull the information for most the changes made by Mage Equpiment into Npcs from other mods and leveledlist has well that should work alright for now..

Till the next version comes out that is.

Hi all, first sorry for the lack of feedback from me here. I sort of quited moding and Oblivion as such due to some issues in my real life. But now I'm back.

As stated, CorePC is working on making Mage Equipment work better with other mods, especially OOO. My modding skills are pathetic, so I'm very glad that someone is working on this. In the mean time, I decided to rework some of the oldest meshes to look better and to use what I have learned in the process. So far I have a new daedric robe, a new dark brotherhood robe and now I'm working on the battle mage robes. Pictures will come in time.

As far as the Dreadmage Robes go, in one of the releases, the NPC that is supposed to wear teh robe just got missing. I do not know why. So it is possible that some of you do not have him in the game and therefore cannot obtain the robes without the console command.

For the Mannimarco robes, I think that at some point I removed it form the plug-in to prevent conflicts with great mods taht change Mannimarco overall.

Again, I'm very sorry for all those problems and I hope that they will be solved in the comming version.

Have a good time playing and I hope this mod will help youto immprove the experience.

Thanks for the reply. Have you thought about adding a quest NPC somewhere with them or just leaving them in the plugin to be consoled in but not placed in the world? I'm still amazed by the look of them and would love to be able to have them in game somehow. I know its a minor thing but if you can squeeze it in during the revamp I think many would be glad. Perhaps renamed and added to a new NPC it would end the conflicts?

If you are talking about the Mannimarco robe then I would recomend you use this http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14200by Milthiades. He uses more or less the same mesht that commes with Mage Equipment. But with tools like Wrye Bash and others, I think I will just add those robes to Mannimarco and give a short description in the Read-me to help solve any conflicts.
As far as the Dread mage goes, I will most probably just stick an NPC somewhere whowould wear this piece. I wish I could make quests or soemthing, but that is far beyond me.

Also if anyone here knows OOO and has some ideas about which NPCs should or could have unique robes (some mage bosses or anythng) or ahve some ideas about new robe mesehs taht should be made, please post here. I do not have too much time to play the game and thus I'm still low level and can't even think to confront any of the big bosses so far, so insight from more experienced players would be welcomed

So, as promissed here are some upgrades for some of the robe meshes:

http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/6344/screenshot5l.jpg, since the robe is a it dark, I replaced the armour texture with much http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/8602/screenshot6q.jpgso that you may see the actual layout
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/3651/screenshot8l.jpg- I'm still thinking about the belt. Maybe I'll make it a bit whiter or at least brighter, but I?m not sure, any suggestions?
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/5816/screenshot7j.jpg
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/2680/screenshot4m.jpg- before it seemed a bit plain, so now i hve rafined it.
These two robes (http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/5026/screenshot2bo.jpg, http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/9480/screenshot3va.jpg) could work as replacements for the battle mage robes of higher quality.
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/6968/screenshot1ab.jpg- I firstly aimed for something different, and this came out of it.
http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/1361/screenshot2dc.jpg- well, I started using McMuffin's Daedric lord armour as replacer for daedric and so the robe needed revamping

Well, this is it so far. Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed.

Any ideas or suggestions

Black Hand Robe. I actually like both versions of the Black Hand robe. I think, if you were to, say, boost the brightness/contrast on the first version the details would probably show up better. At any rate, I think the first version is well worth keeping. The brighter version looks very nice, though (to my eye) the dark portions of the robe (sleeves and skirt) look slightly flat. I think that portion might benefit from adding more detail.

Wizard Robe. I think at least the black area of the belt could be lighten a tiny bit, as you say. But I wouldn't lighten it too much. One of the things that makes this robe really eye-catching, in my opinion, is the contrast between the belt and robe. I would leave the brown and gold portions of the belt alone and just lighten the black in the middle.

Dark Wizard Robe. This has a lot of potential but I think there's not quite enough detail to make the robe stand out yet. I think the quilting ought to be made more apparent. I'm thinking out loud here, but maybe try very thin gold thread to define the squares - nothing flashy, just a slight highlight of gold to emphasize the patterns. I think the very dark brown section under the belt might be made brighter or even whiter to contrast with the black in the rest of the robe (basically the opposite of the contrast in the Wizard robe).

Conjurer Robe. I think the red and gold colors work very well and the pattern is nice. To my eye, the black in the armored pieces draw too much attention to themselves. I wonder, what would it look like if you were to make those parts a bit more red to blend in with the red in the cloth? (It's very hard to judge how these thing will look without actually seeing them on an NPC in the game, so maybe the stark black-and-red contrast may look different in-game, I don't know. This may be one of those things I'd get used to once I saw them a few times.)

Leather, Mithril. I'm actually partial to the Leather myself. I wouldn't change a thing on that. Actually, I wouldn't change a thing on the Mithril either. I think both robes are excellent as they are.

War Priest Robe. I love this. Really, I think this is superb. I wouldn't change a thing on this robe. A great job - really, really nice.

Daedric Robe. If I had any suggestion to make it would be to add a bit more detail to the skirt. I think all of the rest of the robe is great.

As to what Oscuro NPCs should get robes, my vote would be to put robes on Amazon Raging Priestesses or Amazon Wise Mothers. They are mainly Mages, if memory serves, and it could be a sign of status to not have to wear bikinis or go naked, lol.

Thanks, I think I will use both, since there ar three tiers of Battle mage robes. I'm still thinking about adding some details to the mithril mail. A symbol or two just to make it look less plain

Thanks, I'm quite happy with the cuirass part of it, but am not sure about he skirt and the sleeves. I'm trying as much as I can to use vanilla textures, since I'm not too good at texturing, but I guess it might be good to make a specific texture taht would be more leather like.

Wow, thanks a lot. That is sure what I needed. I thinkthe main problme right now is that the shots are just in Nifskope, beause in game the normal maps will alter the look of the meshes a great deal. As stated above, I am sort of restricted to using vanilla textures, since I am not too good at texturing. The textures for the conjurer's robe and for the war priest robe come from Alien Slof and her work is great. I'll take a closer look at some of your suggestions and see if I can actually make something out of them.

As far as robes for the Amazon "mages" go, that is a good idea. I'll just have to think hard about what they should look like. Since Amazons are sort of tribal, I guess that something wilder should do the trick. Perhaps something like http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/8430/meshamantt5.jpg?

And still if anyone else have any suggestions for robes for OOO NPC, be it new robes or replacers of the vanilla ones, I'm all ears.

Hi
Love your mod, I especially like the "standard uniform" robe you added to the mages guild. As for what NPC that should get robes I vote that some of the higher ranking mages guild NPC's are in a desperate need for a new wardrobe. Especially Caranya and Irlav Jarol but also Borrisean, Gaspar Stegine, Tar-Meena, Delmar, Martina Floria.

I think your conjurer robe is really good, however with the sun design on that robe I feel the robe will come more to it's right on the mythic dawn baddies.

As for a conjurer robe I think a deadric inspired robe would be more appropiate: A black robe with deadric hieroglyphs written over it, something like the deadric robe already used by OOO on some dremora NPC's. For example one could use light daedric robe for the conjurers, a heavy armored variant for conjurerer bosses (I the think light and heavy variant deadric robes I'm thinking of are from CUO upgrade resource pack) and your take on the deadric robe for dremora.

Thanks. I still intend to give my robes to more Mages' Guild NPCs, yo are right that many of them wear normal clothes, which is not totally appropriate for the representatives of the guild of mages. Thanks for th names, I'll take a look at them.

With the conjurer robe, the thing is that the texture is taken from Alien Slof and she did use it for the Mythic dawn. I kind of like it on the conjurers, even though a more daedric oriented design might be nice. The problem is taht I'm not much of a texturer, so I fear I cannot just make the texture by myself. Slof does have a daedric robe, but the texture does not work well with the new mesh mostly because it is too dark and since the accessories added by me are almost black as well they tend to get lost. But I guess a dark red robe with black ornaments could be nice. Still, I fear I would need someone to make if for me. So far I got only http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/4820/screenshot3v.jpgand I'm not sure I like it

And a bit of an update. I worked a bit on the "mithril robe" - note that the name is jsut a working title, in the mod it will be a high level battle mage robe or perhaps a battle archmage robe, so idecorated it a bit to look more high quality. I'm just not so sure about the decorative elements, so I made two versions, I would like some feedback on which looks better
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/6320/screenshot1r.jpg and http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/4099/screenshot2r.jpg
You may also notice that I made the robe sort of opened at the fornt which in my opinion suits a battle mage robe better.

I reckon the first, less glitzy version is better. There's something a bit fake-feeling about all the yellow trim.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure abot the golden "hem" around those symbols myself, but on the other hand, in the version one, the new details seem a bit a lost, so I do not know. Perhaps something inbetween? Making the hem a bit thinner?

Still though, any more insghts would be nice, c'mon guys and galls, you will be playing this mod, so you have a chance to sneak in your ideas ;)

Maybe someone know how to remove the 11.000 price from the robes, because this is very unbalancing to the game?

Well, the high prices of the robes are caused by a glitch in the game. The price of the encahntment is automaticly added to the price of the item. There is no way to avoid this. You can believe me, I tried and also asked for help a lot. The only solution we could come up with was assigning price changing scripts taht lowered the price by some fixed amount. But the problem is that if you use any mod that alter spells the calcualtions in those scripts are no longer correct which can lead to issues. These problems are greatest with mods like OOO, which makes a lot of changes to spell costs as well as changes some settings that have to do with the price of items (or so I think). I asked Dev_atm, the current coordinator of OOO to look into this and to try founding a way the prices could be reseted in OOO, after more then a year there was no reply. Currently CorePC has volunteered to try making a version of Mage Equipment that would work better with OOO container and leveled lists -wise, so it is possible he would find a solution to this problem as well in the passing, but I can give no guarrantees.

Fantastic word m8 :) I've been using this since ME 1 when it used a plugin for compatibility with Mannimarco Revisted, lol. And as was stated, the big catch right now is the bug w/ OOO/Living Economy. I simply don't sell any of the ME that I find. Either keep it or leave it in the container. Would it be possible to make a script for the gear so that it completely ignores the game's price settings? Thus mods that change enchantment values wouldn't affect it, you'd just have static prices for each item. Or a plugin that would load after all price-changing mods and only targets the ME stuff. Anyways, I'm looking forward to the update :D

Thanks.

I have spent several sleepless nights trying to solve this. The problem is that you cannot set a price of an item by a script. You can only change it (or so I have been told, I'm no scripter and frankly the scripts scare me a bit :( ). The only thing I could do was to make a script that reduces the price. But the mod iself does not change the magic effects nor their prices. If I did this, the mod would be totally incompatible with magic system overhauls like SM, LAME or MMR. and sicne this mod is intended for mages, the compatibility is highly needed. When it commes to OOO, I do not understand this at all. I now use OOO without living economy and I have SM installed and it is lower in my load order then OOO. With SM alone, the scripts on the robes sort of work and the prices are reasonable (yet not ideal), but with OOO, they just go skyhigh. As if the scripts are no longer working. This is really something I cannot solve. As I have written in an earlier post, I asked Dev_Akm, to look at this and he seemed to understand the problem, yet no sollution ever came from him, so I do not know. The only thing I can think of is trying OBSE and seeing if the OBSE team can think of something, but I am not sure I want this mod to be OBSE dependable.

Well, I would appreciate any possible idea about how to remove this bug s well as any other feedback on teh pictures posted recently.

Hi there, Najaknevrec!

I discovered your ME 2..1 a year ago. Never play without it since then (am using the 'ME for OOO' esp)
Even stopped using Slof's Robe Trader 1.4 which although stylish and beautiful does not fot my clothing concept as well as your Mage Equipment.

just wanted to say thank you as i had no opportunity to do so... :D :hugs:
