you know what, belive what you want, it is your opinion not a fact. I play pure mages with robes that count as light armor all the time and always have far better survivability than with the useless pieces of cloth that ive no bonus

A "disguised" battlemage is what you play as then, not a pure mage. Wearing armour disguised as robes does not a pure mage make!

again that is YOUR OPINION. We see MAges wearing light armor all the time, bandits, the one legion mage, arena combatants in Oblivion, etc.

I think you will find that the general consensus of opinion is that a pure mage wears robes and a battlemage wears armour, or in your case armour disguised as robes by mods. Play how you like and define your characters as you like, I really couldn't care less what you call them to be honest. I do however think that most players tend to think that a pure mage does in fact wear MAGE robes, the clue is in the name of the garment.

FF has them wear leather armor, D&D tends to have them wear whatever they want if they have the feats for it, and at least in D&D robes have a use.
