if all the mages died or went completely mad... couldnt that mean the best mage or sorcerer class in eso would only possiblely been a mage for 4 years?

In offline TES games you can progress from lvl 1 prisoner to lvl 50 Archmage in one ingame month. :woot:

Relax, it's a mmo game. :mage:

there are discrepancies in lore but if you look into the lore there are certain people who were around including the Arch Mage at the time who were able to protect themselves and consequently magery survived even Sheogarath in all his madness still had magiccal powers and was able to pass these powers on via spells hidden in normal books

There isn't a whole lot of information on it, but it's fair to assume not all Mages were killed, as there are many older examples within the Mages Guild living and breathing in the game.

Btw, it perfectly explains why whole alliances armies consist of lvl 10 white-geared battlemages. :gun:

That is from elderscrolls wikia and they even state that it might not be correct or accurate.
Edit: first reference unavailable for me, removed?
Second reference were intetesting, zos have trademarked "soulburst" that might be the first expansion ;)

Ok....

Well that explains a lot about my character... who is a mage... and even more about my master who was a mage.

I don't mind to have few things little loose in the head makes the character even more interesting..

Sheogorath isn't a mage, he's of the same order of spirits as Molag Bal and Azura.

It simply says "Mages", and there is no reason to assume that it means "all Mages"; no more than saying that "people died" would imply that "all the people died".

I thought my Shiny Staff of Magnus qualified me as a loremaster of Skyrim, the same way my Kill the Mage Guild leader vs. Kill the Telvanni leader, and I liked them both so I killed neither, made me a loremaster of Morrowind. Now I think I should have read some of those books.

This is something that confuses me. Why is Azura prince and not princess? I though Azura is female? I am technicaly at the beggining of skyrim. And in morrowind and oblivion I did not pay attantion for the lore. I have to play those again:-D

Despite zos' butchering(called Azura a princes for cripes' sake), Prince is a title and daedra have no gender.

Mephala, he has taken both male and female forms.

They can appear how they want.

Like Sakiri mentioned, they have no gender. You might see them as one thing, but they can appear however they like. Molag Bal has even been noted to walk among cultists as a female.

Ah, thanks for explaining. Azura's shrines always confused me. As female was displayed and then you open a book mentioning Azura as prince:-)

Now it's clear.

Easier to do his "kingly duty" to the men types as female.
