Mages Guild and Necromancy Did the Mages Guild allow evil be

Not propaganda at all. I actually read everything I come accross, some of which is research notes. From what little I gathered a Necromancer may have have some noble goal at the begining but as they learn more and gain more power through what they learn they change. Sounds a lot like the Dark Side of the Force, I agree, but there's little room for doubt. Unless the mage's will is extremely strong Necromancy will corupt the user's soul.

I think their corruption is due to the warping of their minds which happens when/if they absorb the personalities of the souls they consume, or rather, absorb.

This creates a skitzofrenic complex that may cause them to lose sight of what morality is. Or, perhaps they may absorb the traits of those who are morally sour, or lacking. Or, maybe, just all in all, it could have a corrupting effect, simply exposing someone's weak character.

To quote Abraham Lincoln "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power".

However, I personally like to believe that it is a combination of the first two, with exceptions here and there.
