Magic items

Post » Fri May 30, 2014 3:57 am

So I just started playing Skyrim about a month ago (had to finish up Fallout New Vegas) but as a longtime Elder Scrolls devoted fan (yes, Morrowind is STILL the greatest game of alltime btw) it's occurred to me that the various magic items I've found in the game so far really svck compared to Oblivion and Morrowind...by now (I'm level 30) I would at very least expect to find an item of clothing (preferably a ring) for feather or added strength, also something to increase Destruction damage and maybe even a waterbreathing item....the items I've found so far only seem to enact a lesser cost of Magicka while casting a spell, which isn't very useful to me at all....at first I thought this was just a random thing and I was just not lucky getting the type of Enchanted items I want but at this point there really seems to be an absolute intention by the programmers to limit or totally do away with these types of Enchanted items....anyone else get that feeling?

Waterbreahing and magical skill bonus items exist, but there aren't any for Strength and the other attributes since we don't have attributes in Skyrim. Some of the magical properties are extremely hard to find so just give it time.

As far as I am aware there is only one item in the game that gives you waterbreathing, and you have to be a pretty high level (and have the Dragonborn expansion). The enchantments that give you a boost in a certain skill comes later as you level. More, better enchantments are foound as you level up and travel to different places in skyrim. Like someone already said, there are no attributes in Skyrim so there are no items that boost them. Bethesda keeps dumbing down the TES games as they go along it seems. I feel that by the next game they will take everythung away that actually gives it some diversity compared to other games. It's a shame really

There's nothing for destruction damage, only magicka cost. Waterbreathing can be found on helmets and necklaces. As for strength, well carryweight can be found on boots though that's not really same thing.

I found a ring or circlet (can't remember which) of waterbreathing at a low level once way before Dragonborn was released. Haven't seen one since though.

I had a mod for it that added a ring in riften, but have since removed it. Is that what your talking about? I'm pretty sure that there isn't anything besides the

Spoiler
Deathbrand Helmet
That gives you waterbreathing

I just checked on UESP and there is a circlet of waterbreathing that you have to have DG to get. Then there is Volsung which gives it to you also.

That reduces the casting cost for destruction, there's no enchantments to boost damage.

Necklaces, headwear, and according the wiki, rings can be found with waterbreathing. I've only seen the first two, but wouldn't doubt the latter.

Ah I was thinking of the Alchemical Fortify Destruction. Not sure why they felt the need to make the same title mean different things for enchanting and alchemy.

When it comes to dungeon delving for enchanted items, Dwemer ruins are the undisputed kings. Apart from that, nothing's wrong with visiting blacksmiths/general goods stores every now and then and buying what you may haven't found so far.
