Because applying sense to where it matters = REMOVE IT ALL.

Seriously. Stop with these laughable fallacies if you want to actually make your argument seem valid about spellcrafting.

I was responding to the part where he says he is more worried about combat tactics than (presumably) statistics, not for spellcrafting.

The main argument against it's removal is the fact that it wasn't holding the game down and no-one was forced to use it.

Spellmaking has always been about creativity with what the developers have given you. Always. Never changed.

What Bethesda has stated with Skyrim is that they want to try another approach to this, and personally, I'm all for the new spell combination approach. Absolutely nothing different between it and Spellmaking, you are being creative with what the developers have allowed you to be creative with. Yes, it's more restrictive, but if Skyrim were to come with a multi-cast feature for on-self spells (so you can cast multiple spells from your book at the same time), spellmaking would be rendered nearly completely redundant. That is the new path Bethesda wants to tread, and Skyrim is the testbed for it..

So yes, I support this new approach of ACTIVE creativity with spells over spellmaking's PASSIVE creativity. Offers both the option for mages to think on their feet and learn and prepare new tactics and spell combos.

Removing spellmaking might remove the magic for some, but definitely not for me, been there, seen it, done it, just hoping I am forced to make tactical choices during combat to succeed now, not prepare efficient spells in comfort, then spam them in combat.

This is pretty much how I felt about it. It'll be more about how we use what we're given, rather than what can be created. Like say using a frost rune to slow a sprinting warrior then using dual frost/fire streams to drain the rest of his stamina while also causing damage over time. Figuring out efficient usage will also be part of the fun. For example using detect life drain but only tapping to check if there is an enemy behind a door, or using a doorway as a bottleneck and spraying it with a quick burst of fire to ignite enemies who come through.

Another fun idea might be using detect life to check a corner, see some enemies? Use lightning in the other hand and bounce it around the corner while using detect life to see if the enemy is being hit and how close they are, maybe even plant a frost rune at the corner so when they reach it you have a few seconds to run and get some space. The creativeness will come through the use of the more dynamic magic, rather than creating static spells.

Why could they not put the new spell effects into spellmaking?

Because it wouldnt fit the trend of removing any and all RPG from TES and turning it into an action/adventure.

HA! That's a bit rich coming from you, considering your first response to me... But no, not at all. I just don't see the point in having the same argument again and again when neither one of us is willing to even entertain the notion that the other has a valid point.

Spellmaking is gone, it's a shame really and it'll be missed I'm sure, but it's gone. However, the new way of handling magic will be an improvement and I for one will have fun playing the game.

No, actually i havent. And dont use words you dont fully understand, makes you look pretentious. So tired of people overusing that word whilst trying to sound intelligent on these boards. Zomg your fallacious statements! Stop being so fallacious! You know what the real fallacy is here? Your ability to be clever.

How much did you use of the previous magic system? Just wait until you are 100+ hours into a mage playthrough, and the amusemant of the pretty new system is long worn, you will wish you had a way to craft spells or you will roll another class. Although, I doubt you ever planned on a mage for Skyrim anyway, your excuses seem very uninspired and driven only by your desire to see mages gimped. As long as you got your armor and weapons smithing and mages are left with no [censored] crafting whatsoever everything's just fine isn't it.

Generalization and Ad hominem right at the end.

Oh right, back to that lameass excuse. Take all the weapons and armor in the game, beside them list their weight and damage and value and condition. Zomg [censored] weapons and armor take them out they are too spreadsheety!

Slippery Slope, straw man.

Perhaps YOU should actually educate yourself, and perhaps take the time to go over your "arguments" before hitting the reply button. People have sensibly posted their opinions, and you did nothing to affirm your own position beyond attacking other people.

They did try but I'm guessing it's pretty complicated.

Then it would also end up like Oblivion where rather than use spells creatively you just make a spell with a lot of useful effects in one. So rather than using a dual fire/frost stream to slow and damage over time, you could just make that as one spell, which kinda ruins the point of spending a perk to dual wield magic.

And you overuse "Zomg!" Seriously, you have no arguments other then saying people are lame asses and they would miss their "shiny armor and weapons." You have no idea if Skyrim's magic will be boring or interesting, and attacking people doesn't make you right.

Anyway... I'll miss spellmaking, but I am still looking forward to how they've handled the new magic system, with the talent tree for every magic school. I might just use some magic on my melee characters, instead of just making a pure mage. Although I still plan on making that pure mage.

Spending a perk to duel wield magic? I thought we could do that straight away? :glare:

Same here, if it is a perk it will just take the maximum number of perks down one for me.

I havent attacked anyone, you said my comments are "fallacious" without pointing out in reason a single argument i have presented that is at all wrong or invalid or incorrect. I am educated, i know what fallacious means, but i also use it sparingly and only when other words cannot be effective. You just arbitrarily inject "big words" into your responses in attempt to satisfy some false sense of recognition on these boards.

Pretty sure Pete said there is a perk to dual wield on twitter, hopefully someone can confirm this (I don't use twitter).

There is a difference between dual-wield and dual-cast. If there is a perk it is most likely for the latter.
Dual wielding anything is just a fundamental part of the game engine. Granted, they could make a restriction on magic, but I doubt it.

I thought it was a perk to combine, not dual wield. So can use fire in both hands but can't combine into big single fireball straight away.

Edit: btw I don't mean combine 2 different spells, just 2 of the same spell.

With the removal of spellmaking, the magic has been removed from TES.

No it has not. Check all coverage for magic shown in the videos and articles, magic certanly have not been removed from the game.

As long as you got your armor and weapons smithing and mages are left with no [censored] crafting whatsoever everything's just fine isn't it.

Enchanting has been confimed as the crafting system for mages, Smithing for Warriors and Alchemy for Thieves. So mages do have a crafting system.

Oh right, back to that lameass excuse. Take all the weapons and armor in the game, beside them list their weight and damage and value and condition. Zomg [censored] weapons and armor take them out they are too spreadsheety!

That is an accurate way of showing what weapon is better, heavier and more valluable. Removing that out would rather be equal to not showing magica cost duration or damage on a spell rather than removing spell making. If you are reffering to removing weapons all together then the equality would be remocing spells all together, which they also haven't done. all of which would be rather stupid.

If you took all the spreadsheets out of TES, what do you have? A fantasy film

Removing all spreadsheets would be a rather stupid thing to do.
