Magic v Stamina

Post » Tue Mar 11, 2014 12:21 am

From what I have read Magica is going to increase our magica (obviously) but will also add damage to spells? and stamina will increase damage with a weapon?

I seen people on youtube playing Sorcerer with a bow for damage and using snare type spells to keep the enemy at a distance

If were to play this what would you put your point in Magic or Stamina??

derp

Well most people using weapon spells are using class spells for support so they are not investing into a lot of magicka

Sorcerer's a bit of a special case as they can exchange stamina for health and magicka. In general though you will put points in whatever you want as your primary source of DPS.

I'll be going along the lines of 25% Magicka 25% Stamina and 50% Health; using both magical abilities along with weapon skills.. at least I think.

at the moment on the closed beta servers it seems most people put all their points in health because of the soft caps.

If it increases your dmg, we would need how much increase we get per point and then see of its worth it....

I will play healer, so all my points will go to magicka only. I just hope that my team will protect me from enemies:-)

You're gonna be a one-hit kill in late game, and no time to heal yourself, if you don't invest in health.

if you put all your points in magic you will be capd so it seems like a waste and if your using a healing staff I think points in stamina will increase you healing ability with a staff

I understand that but I don't think I would focus health as a sorcerer

Ofcourse not. I personally will go for 60% magicka, 30% health and 10% stamina, if I would play a sorc.

Just keep an open mind about that matter and remember that there ought to be a respecc option available.

From what I saw on the stream videos about veteran pve content you might need to have a serious health investment and since health from level ups is more efficient it seems logical to go down that road.
But shouldn't matter too much before endgame.

I will play an Orsimer Templar with PvP focus - will invest heavily in health as from my experience it's always a solid choice for PvP and as a healer I expect to be focused a lot and having a large health pool + self heals is usually a good survivability option.

This vid explains soft-capping really well and why a lot of people are investing heavily in health atm.

Disclaimer- it was done before 1.8 when some of the stats have been altered slightly.

No it's because you got 20 points for health and only 10 for sta/mag.

This was recently changed.

No, sta increases your staff attack, it does not increase any of the staff abilities.

To answer this part of it: as I understand things, weapon attacks and stamina-based powers scale with your maximum stamina, while magicka-based powers scale with your maximum magicka.

Putting all points to single attiribute would make you fail overhard endgame

It's probably still worth it to put all your points into health even if it was dropped from 20 to 15, correct?
