Magicka

One great strategy is trying each element with the shield. With Earth + Shield, rocks burst out of the ground and form a protective barrier (that's how I killed the snake boss). Fire + Shield does what you would think, makes a circle of fire around you. Each element makes the barrier around you with it's respective damage.
I just made a Shield around myself. The snake didn't like that. :P

I find the rock shield to be the best / longest defense for most times when I need a breather - the regular shield never seems to last long.

One problem I have is figuring out how to counter other wizards - I can see that they are using Arcane, for instance, but how would I counter that? Life? That just heals them... :P

Not sure...I haven't gotten that far yet. Lightning seems to render people unable to attack, maybe it works the same for spells? Try making a rock barrier around yourself and follow it up by combining Arcane, Fire, Lightning, Arcane, Fire to make a huge beam and blast through your shield into the wizard. He shouldn't have time to counter it.

Lightning + Arcane + Cold makes a really strong beam as long as the enemy isn't immune to any of those elements. It does good damage and makes them move very slow.

Has anyone got the Raise Undead Magicka yet? It is awesome, but if you make too many zombies the game will crash.

The restart if you die thing is really pissing me off. On the druid level, the second time you face them (after you find lightning bolt with the knight), there's a huge fight with the horse guys and druids. I get far in, but I consistently get swarmed with no room to move. They knock me back down right as I get up, which leads to death.

New patch coming out later today, they're just waiting for Steam to push it forward:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1735553

Also 4x Ice (Q+R) + 1x Earth makes a very damaging weapon. Another thing I've found is if you do shields + health you can drop 4 health land mines, each one heals 599 health.

I tried playing with someone yesterday but always got "authentication error" hopefully this patch fixes it.

I thought this was pretty funny, read the paradox press statement and watch the video:

If you can get it working online Capital. I'm waiting for them to release multiplayer fixes, just doesn't seem to want to work.

I got this game right after "X" played it. I loved it so much, until my graphics card crashed and I had to restart. And then it crashed again. You can add me my steam is the same as it is here.

Egriz and I got it working using Hamachi.
Howto:
Spoiler
1.Download & install Himachi
2. Start Himachi and create a network, have everyone who you want to play with join the network
3. Start Magicka and host a game
3a. Start Magicka and click IP Address, use the Himachi IP ( minimize the game, look in Himachi for the person who's hosting - it should give you an IP next to their name ) of the host and the password ( if necessary )
4. Play

Though, it lagged so badly it wasn't playable.

Apparently in their native country (sweden???), the average person there has pretty powerful internet connection. They failed to take this into account for people with less than the most amazing internet. Or so I have heard.

I gave the demo a shot and was really disappointed in how well it ran. I don't have a great computer but given that it can run Oblivion, I would have hoped it could run this slightly better than it did. (The only way I got decent performance was running it at the lowest possible settings).

However, as a concept, it seemed like a really fun game.

Was it poor performance, or the stuttering bug there looking into?

Just poor performance I think

However, just checked the system requirements, and I am under them. I am just surprised how high they are.

In other words, I wish they had more settings to turn down to reduce the strain on my poor GPU.

Does anyone know how to get the book on the bridge at the very beginning? Do you come back to get it later?

Hahaha oh my god. The multiplayer is really improving. I managed to get three chapters of play done, but we started at 3. It was amazingly good fun to say the least. I accidentally nuked a friend with lightening bolt costing us the whole mission. Hahahaha. He was casting rain or something for some reason. I just got this spell and was figuring it out. Big surprise when it went for him when he was all wet. With him down the mobs swarmed us killing the last of us off. Lol. Later on we broke out into a fight trying to push each other into the grinder. I won. Thank god for lightening bolt.

Edit
Then I just CTD'ed no error or anything. *sigh* It's getting there though.

The spell system is amazing, no other word will do. I've bought it and played it for a bit and it's among the best indie games I've ever played, it has annoyances, the control scheme is rather clunky, but that's hardly something I can hold against a game with such an innovative magic system, clunky controls are pretty much unavoidable with a game like this.

The fact that this is the studios very first release is mindblowing, the fact that 8 people are able to create a more interesting and innovative game than major studios with millions of dollars behind them is just incredible, these guys will go far, if they don't then it would be a crime against gaming and innovation in general.

I tried setting some macros for Magicka, but the Microsoft Keyboard software only lets me set macros for media keys, and I'd like to use the number keys for the macros. So... what's some good 3rd party software that will let me set a macro for a number key and can have a separate keyboard profile that only activates when I run Magicka?
