Magicka

Post » Wed Jul 14, 2010 10:50 am

Magicka just came out on Steam today, and I didn't even know about it before today. Played the demo (which you can get on steam) and I have to say it is one of the most interesting games I have played in years.

I won't spoil it for you, you'll have to give it a try for yourself to see what I mean. ;)

That looks really cool, I might give it a go after midterm week. :P

The magic system is just glorious, really. We tried to do some local multiplayer yesterday, but the net code seems a little shoddy. Led to three crashes in 40 minutes, after which we just stopped. Hope this gets patched, MP is an important aspect of Magicka.

Well, as important as in Castle Crashers, at any rate.

Did you even play Castle Crashers? It didn't have multiplayer...

I really don't get what your definition of multiplayer is...?

Am I missing something here? Both games are 4 player co-op...

I just finished the demo, and I know I killed myself more times than the enemies did in my frantic attempts to cast something useful and failing, lol.

Seems pretty cool. If we can get a few people here willing to play through the campaign I might check it out.

Read about this game on Kotaku earlier and it sounds pretty sweet. This might be a dumb question but is it playable on a Mac?

Nope.

Well crap. I'm at college and all I have for a computer is my MacBook pro. I love the thing, but gaming wise...well it's a Mac. Thanks for the answer though.

As soon as I heard I can ricochet a beam around inside of a shield to screw with team mates, I'm in at the next wad of disposable cash.

I've thought about buying a windows OS to run through boot camp, just never got around to it. What's the going rate on XP or 7 right now? Vista is out of the question

If your college bookstore sells it at a discount, windows 7 should be 40-60 bucks iirc.

Already having problems with the demo....

Middle mouse button doesn't work, and the text on the menu screen is completely fuzzed out. Just the menu screen, with the options to play online or challenges or options etc.

Played up until level 3 so far, and am enjoying myself very much. Also, seeing a Link to the Past homage made me love it even more. I can't wait to get some people together to get a 4 person game going.
