Mailing? You can mail things?

Post » Mon Aug 30, 2010 12:24 am

I was reading some posts, and not to hi jack them, you can mail things? I was reading about where to put stuff in containers and some people said put them in the Mojave Express boxes and then they will go to GoodSprings. I am a bit confused here. I don't recall reading this the manual or startegy guide.

So can you mail things to certian locations? If so, how do you do this. Maybe other people who do not know abou this will learn something new now.

i dont know why you would want to do that though. To mail something back home so you dont have to carry it i guess. i found a package on a guy that told me to deliver it to north Vegas by way of Freeside. I cant find anyone to give it to though. I dont know if im supposed to use the mailboxes or not.

Once you discover two or more Mohave Express mailboxes, you can mail items to yourself to be picked up at the other location by you when you get there. You can tell if you have something waiting for you because the little red flag on the left-side will be sticking up.

If you're playing on hardcoe mode, this is extremely useful because more things have weight (ammo). So I'll ship all ammo that I'm not currently using or any excess ammo back to wherever I've called home. Or if you like crafting foods / ammo / weapons, you can scavenge (er, "prospect") to your heart's content, then send it all back to your home base location via the Mohave Express rather then traveling yourself. Travel is more of an issue in hardcoe mode because it takes time and that means consideration of food/water/sleep needs and supplies. So I don't fast-travel back to my home base just to unload junk because it's a waste of food/water. Or if you like creating food with the Survival skill, you can go out hunting, then mail a bunch of raw meat / berries / twigs back to your home location, then go hunting some more.

It's extremely useful. Personally, I base out of Goodsprings, because there are (2) dumpster containers right by the Mohave Express box, which means I can unload right from the mailbox into a pair of containers. And the ammo press / repair bench are right around the corner.

Sweet deals. I never thought of that. That is pretty neat.

A bumb so other people can read this, just in case they didn't know this. This will be really help full for me, since I play hard core and still get over encumbered at S 9.

Did you just figure that out or does the game tell you that when you discover more than one dropbox? Makes me wonder what other things there are in the game I have no clue about.......

It tells you when you click to activate the dropboxes. Even if you "see" the box, you still have to interact with it to get the message telling you how you can use them.

I ignored the box for so long, then when I read a post about it, I clicked on it, and it said if you discover another one, you can mail something. I thought, "Uh, am I reading this correctly?" So good to know. I am also wondering if there is other things as well... hey a new topic to start. :D

karnieopt - when you activate the first drop-box that you see (and there's one right near where you first enter the world) a box pops up and tells you what it does, so it would be fairly difficult -or you'd have to be really unobservant or lack curiosity not to have clicked on one- to get very far in the game and not know what they're for.

Edit: oops, beaten to it...

The game will tell you when you find the first and second boxes, and every box after that.

More useful on H.C like stated above.

I admit I miss a lot when it comes to these games, despite my trying to examine every nook and cranny; but in this case, the real reason is when I approached it, it said , so I assumed it was just another container and left it alone..

I was thinking: 'WTF, this is too good to be true' when I found the box in Goodspring. I haven't tried it yet (only level 3), but if they work it's a great addition to the game imo. :goodjob:

Don't forget about the free pure water in the Doc's house and the mattress in the trailer just up the road. Free H20 and SLP is good.

I am not sure you could play hardcoe effectively without using these things.

The only thing I don't like about the boxes is when I send something somewhere I don't want it to go or I send it somewhere then wish I had sent it a different place. I kind of wish the box would give me access to what ever I put in there no matter where I put it.
