Main Characters?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 9:53 pm

Okay, So as I view the dev. videos, a question hits me? are there any main characters on both sides? Like say, is their some sort of sargent named Johnson that assists you through the story, or some commander of the ressistance named Jack who assists you through the story as well?
( Like CoD with " Woods or Bowman" 2 characters that work with the main character, you, y'know?)

I feel that characters like that add depth to the storyline and all so I would be glad if a squad leader was around you helping out all the time.

Possibly the commanding officer that leads you through Contiainer City. I didn't see his name, or the name of his two guys, but the other three guys all had names when he moused over them so maybe everybody has a name just to make it feel more "real".

When playing with friends who ever is party leader will be squad commander in cutscenes.

Well there sort of is a "mentor" or "guiding figure" type of character in the game. There is a Squad Commander on each side that is an AI that basically barks out orders based on the current situation. They tell you if there is a class type needed, whether to defend objectives, and everything else that can help out the team. Watch some gameplay videos of Brink again. The voices of the squad commanders in the press videos of the game all use British accents. Not quite Captain Price, but still a helping hand.

And thats what make the CoD story lines very pleasing. I like them usually, they are thought out and pretty cool.

The only main character in the game is Wraith and he's exclusive to Xbox360

Same here, Blackops had the worst story that i have ever seen in any COD game. EVER. It was so predictable and not even clever, after i played through i just sat there trying to figure out, wtf did i just play? :homestar:

It feels like they tried to adapt the plot of Fight Club. It didn't work.

But back on topic, I don't know whether or not there will be characters that recur in different levels. I just thought of the maps as different missions carried out by different units, and each map would have a different SL.

To be fair, Fight Club wasn't the first to do it. I didn't mind it nearly as much as MW2 though.

The Story of Black Ops was so much better than the one from Modern Warfare 2, though.

Aside from the two leaders of the factions, there is no main character whatsoever. So yeah there ain't a specific squad, or group of soldiers that are present in the entire game.
This makes it more interesting you feel that one is actually seeing the conflicts through many areas instead through the eyes of a specific group.

There definately are main characters in the cutscenes; as which player characters will "star".

Yeah, thanks, man. I was about to say Brother Chen from the Resistance but couldn't remember the other guy's name and I couldn't find the source, so thank you. ^_^

I'm guessing those are the two brothers that were separated because they were on different sides? (I heard rumors that they are supposed to be brothers, but were split by
the war?)

Well, I know its too late to be saying ideas but I was kinda hoping for a rainbow six (original one not Vegas), where if a character (not you) dies, you'll see another randomized character taking his place. I guess I can always hope for the future...

That's not really being a main character. Take Lost Planet 2 for instance, they never have characters with actual names or anything, but the players were always in all the cutscenes but you always knew that it was just another random man in that mission, he only looks the way you dressed him.

Your characters will talk in BRINK, though. They're a little more than a cardboard standup.

Talk or not, I'm still the main character in my story. Little plastic army men never talk back, just got to write your own path.
