Main quest help.

Ok, my dad is at the part where you have to go to the Thalmor embassy and do something (don't remember what exactly). He met the contact who asks if you have any gear you want to take to the embassy. He said "no". Next person in the quest takes all your belongings and gives you regular clothes to wear. Now when he goes to the chest where the gear is supposed to be for him, there's nothing in it because he didn't give the guy anything to store away for him. Now when he tries to do what he has to do for the quest, he gets killed and has no gear to defend himself.

He doesn't have a save before meeting the embassy contact, so he can't go back and tell him to store his gear for him. Is his game basically over? I thought surely there must be another way to accomplish things but it really appears like if you don't give that initial contact gear to store for you, you're screwed once your in the embassy. Does anyone have any advice for this? Surely this can't be a gamebreaker can it? He's thinking of starting a new character because he can't progress any further. Thanks.

Yeah, you're doomed.

Stealth kill a Thalmor or something, take their gear.

See, here's the thing - when the guy asks if you want something smuggled in, you have to actually GIVE HIM STUFF that you think you'll need. I suggest a weapon or two, and plenty of lock picks. If you give him nothing, that's exactly what he leaves for you in the chest. Nothing. Get it? :)

Well that svcks. Ah I just had an idea. He can still use magic. Perhaps he can kill a Thalmor with magic and take their stuff.

If you do pull that off they have some pretty decent gear, which is all you need to survive there

there is some armor in the far room in the first hall. No weapons though but you have spells and you have 2 guards you can kill and take their weapons/armor.

Or he can just turn is difficulty on very low and run through,

Makes sense to me. I guess he wasn't paying attention and/or not thinking. svcks though that you make one mistake like this and it's basically game over. He also had to restart a guy he spent 20+ hours with because he contracted vampirism and didn't realize it. Then he got to the point where he couldn't feed and everyone attacked him on sight. I will tell him to pay more attention in this game :)
