So just wondering when you will do the main quest im thinking il be around level 20 maybe. I want to get used to the game and also be a little stronger going into it and know exactly how i want to play my character. Although they say most or all the dragon shout walls will be through main quest im not sure if you havta do the main quest or if you stumble into that dungon off quest and find them.

Im not going to jump right in myself, I said after 20 but it may be even after who knows. I think once im done exploring aimlessly however long that takes. AND NO FAST TRAVEL

Impossible to say how high my level will be at which point in the game, because we don't know enough about the leveling system.
But I will concentrate on the main quest in my first playthrough. I'm really interested in the story.

In my case it's hard to say, but it'll be after I've experienced (explored, fought, looted, lived) the game a bit. i'm definately going to wait. So therefore I chose the last option on the poll. I'm gonna have several characters who won't deal with anything to do with the MQ at all.

I can't really give a specific time frame. Clearly I'm going to start it at the beginning of the game but depending on how good it is depends on whether I ignore it (like I did in Oblivion's case) or continue with it. Some of my characters probably won't bother with the main quest, but at this point I'm not sure how early or late my first character will do it. I may decide I love the main quest and just rush through it. Who knows. So I picked none of the options because I am entirely unsure.

It depends on whether or not the MQ is crucially important to the game world. For example, in Oblivion there was of impending doom about the MQ, so a realistic role-play of the game would've included at least starting it right away, if not exclusively focusing on it. Since I role-play pretty realistically, I hope the MQ is less immediately pants-on-fire-world's-about-to-end.

I usually try to pad out the MQ of the series a fair bit. I typically do the first few parts to get it started but usually once I get to the the first town that starts offering guilds, I wander off and start doing my own thing. It'll probably be no different with Skyrim really, hold off on the quest til my character starts shaping out the way I want them to be and then inch through the MQ while mixing in side and guild quests as I go along.

I have been playing Oblivion for years and barely scratched the surface of the main quest. I plan to complete it just before starting Skyrim.

As for Skyrim's main quest, it seems to some extent we will be progressing as we learn more dragon shouts, but I don't expect to complete the main quest until after having played the game for perhaps a year or two.

Will you wait this long if you need to do the main quest in order to learn the shouts?

I'm not in any hurry to "complete" the main quest, and I will probably complete a couple of long playthroughs of hundreds of hours without ever finishing the main quest.

However, certainly, I will start the main quest and progress by finding word walls and dragon shouts, etc.

It depends a lot on the story of the main quest. I might be enticed to complete it during the first playthrough, but in Oblivion I played the game a few times without ever really getting very far in the MQ.

Certainly at the very least I would hold off on finishing the main quest until I'm ready to permanently retire the character. Even though you can continue playing after the main quest, IMO it feels like the end of the game. Not going to do that while there are still hundreds of locations to discover, hundreds of side quests, factions to join, crafting activities to master, etc.

No idea what my exact time frame will be. But I wont rush the mq, I'll mix it up with plenty of exploring, guild and side quests.

I'll be doing the Main Quest first. I think this will be the best way to get a feel for the game.

Then, once I save the land of Skyrim, I will be ready to really explore it.

I to prefer taking on the main quest at somewhere around level 25-30, I hate starting only to encounter a section that I cannot pass or are having difficulty with because I am not strong enough. So therefore its side quests and jobs to help build up my level and stats, then main quest.

I will probably focus on the main quest then wander around afterwords exploring the world. Then again, that's what I said for Oblivion and it kept getting delayed by epic exploration and side quests.

As of yet not really sure what do, maybe explore with no fast travel and do some side quests.
