Main Quest Reward

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:05 pm

Ok I'm getting sick of people saying a game element is a bad idea because the same element was in Fable. Just because Fable is bad doesn't mean that everyone of it's elements is doomed to hell forever. Fable had NPC's in it you know, maybe Skryim shouldn't have NPC's. It also had swords, I guess TES shouldn't have swords then either.

Fair enough. I'm getting sick of seeing every damn element that was in Fable suggested, myself. Especially since even the people making suggestions from Fable tend to agree it svcked. "Hey, this game was horrible- let's make all the others more like it!"

I liked Morrowind's. A ring from a goddess and worldwide thanks.

Which is to say- a ring from a goddess. And then the rest of the world acknowledges you as saving the world right before asking you to get their cat out of the tree out front.

It's Skyrim, people...I want my own mead hall. Even Solstheim was able to scrounge me up a lousy mead hall, right?

I picked a fortress because it seems like a reward that would be equally useful to mostly any character but a powerful shout would be my second choice.

I'd go for personal fortress, or town even which u need to manage around a little bit (nothing dramatic, you'll gain money from economy and you'll pay money to workers, maybe u can also add some things to the town kind of like in assassins creed 2, and you can now put up wanted posters! or some small (well not really small) minigame like this.

also an idea, maybe becoming the head of one of the factions that are ruling seperate parts of skyrim? or forming your own?

Ehh, wrong game, man. You don't restart because you're never done. And starting over with the same character ruins your character's adventure, which is the entire point of the game.

I personally would like to see some sort of dragon skin armor with some cool enchantments.

I just hope the reward is good. Azura's ring svcked. The Dragon armor in OB was really good in terms of DP, but the enchantments weren't good. I think armor and weapons don't make good rewards even though there cool because there's a chance you aren't skilled in that item. Something everyone can use would be the best.

While Azura's Ring wasn't very good, I also consider Sunder, Keening and Wriathguard to be rewards for the main quest since you inevitably got them while doing the main quest and could keep them once you finished. Some of the main quest dungeons also had some nice loot, though I wouldn't say that counts since they're not actually part of the quest, and you could potentially miss them.

But I kind of agree that if the main quest reward is equipment, there's a chance you won't have a use for it, though that might be adressed by giving the player a choice of what you want. Let's say the game ends and someone offers to forge a suit of unique armor for you, you could then choose between light armor, medium armor, or maybe you could also choose an enchanted robe if you lean towards clthing, that way, you could choose something more suited to your needs.

Alternately, you can give players something that anyone is likely to be able to benefit from, a fortress seems like a good option, it seems reasonable to me, when I just risked my life to save the world, I think I deserve something impressive.

Unique building would be great for me. If I want to leave my character, I hope my character have a place to enjoy retirement from his adventures. like my character in Oblivion, enjoying his retirement spent in a tree house in the woods (mods) or my other characters who sat on his throne in shivering Isle.

I've got to go with Armor hopefully good armor this time around. I'm also going to guess that we'll get good equipment/items during the main quest.

I don't care if I get to be king or not, I don't know how a character other than a Nord would get rulership over Skyrim (or at least not for very long). I would like a personal fortress and some attendants for it. Mods could probably improve it drastically if you don't like the layout. I might not need a crown for doing my job and saving the world, but I feel a title and some land would suit any character.

A statue, fortress or dragon shout could work but a weapon or an armour isnt a good idea. What if I play trough the game as a pure mage and the end gare reward is a set of heavy armor (I'm looking at you oblivion) that wouldn't be very... rewarding.

A unique leveling armor, rising from steel to daedric protection with you. Not sure what it would look like, but a Dragon Armor that actually looked like Dragon armor would be nice...

Erm, this may sound a bit odd, but how about another quest?

When I get a prize, I want to be able to use it. So, if it's armor, a castle, weapon, etc., I wan't be able to use it in a meaningful way instead of just throwing it in a chest because it's useless. If a castle, I'd want to defend it, get into running the lands, etc. So many rewards seem to be some kind of object or a shiny...a decoration or trophy. That just seems boring; give me a bit more challenge before I ride off into the sunset

Or, as blasphemous as this is to most TES fans...just end the game after the MQ so I don't see how inept the prize actually is. There's always been enough replayablity to let me do it all over again in a different way
