Main Story: A Chance for Depth?

I can openly state that Beth's games are great.

Flaws? sure, but minor in the scope of what they offer.

I can also state that their main stories are good.... But not great.

I've enjoyed every plot from Morrowind, Oblivion, FO3 and even Beth/Obsidian's FONV

But they never reached that point of "Epic."

But I personally feel that Skyrim will change this. Everything I've seen thus far suggests
that Bethesda has paid a little more attention to the Cinematics and theatrics of the game
as opposed to previous games. Finishers are a small cinematical detail, but they represent
the significance of their attention to cinematics. At least I'm hoping so.

I believe with the elements that are involved in the coming game, Skyrim has the ability to
reach it's full Storytelling potential. Perhaps, becoming an epic tale indeed.

Does anyone else also believe that Skyrim's plot has the potential of being 'Epic?'

I've been thinking about the MQ lately, which is odd because i'm not one to really care about it in the grand scheme of these massive games. However, I think the MQ will be the best in the series by far and I anticipate it being very good.

Return of Alduin... massive dragons flying around... being the only guy who can stop them... it damn well better be epic.

But in all honesty, I'm sure BGS will pull through. I've loved all their games and stories, so I'm excited for this one.

As long as we're not closing any Oblivion gates, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

I'm not really optimistic about it. I mean, I'm sure we would all like it to be great..but the current track record doesn't hold up much hope of it being anything more than a cookie-cutter phoned-in sort of deal. :sadvaultboy:

Love your threads Fyrisi.

But when it comes to the quests and the story telling in TES theirs no point in beating around the bush because different people like different things so no matter what Bethesda do with the story it will never fully please everyone.

However what EVERYONE always loves is a good epic scene where everything reaches a climix as long it delivers...

So on that note even if the quests and story are not told that well as long as they include some good battles, plot twists and an epic enough ending I will be happy with it.

Fighting Alduin is a very strange thing to do. Because you can't beat time itself.
So either, we prevent his return alltogether, which would be kind of lame. Or they have to come up with a really creative and epic explanation how this is all supposed to play out. I don't think there's a middle ground, and I put my money on 'epic'.

Alduin is a god right?

Meaning that he does not have to "show up" in Skyrim he can just carry out his will via an avatar (big a$$ kicking dragon).

I'm ignoring the main quest, personally.

There's only so many 6th House Sleeper Agents/Oblivion Gates/Enclave Camps/Dragon Attacks I can handle before I say enough's enough.
